Parents gaming with their kids

Bought Elite for my son, but he's not really taken to it (8). Too busy on Ipad games.
Hoping that 2.3 and multi-crew ships will get him into a fighter ship whilst I'm in my Vette or similar.

I'm always gaming with my kids (9 and almost 11), although their obsession with Minecraft can be a little wearing at times.... I got bored of that years ago.

Of course this includes video games and tabletop games. In fact, the most recent gaming session we had I finally introduced them to the world of Dungeons & Dragons, which they absolutely loved (despite my very rusty DM skills).

Eldest son has already started making maps and plotting out an adventure to put us through. ;)
I was honoured to introduce my friends' kids to the noble art of Dungeons & Dragons this year :)
They quickly wanted more! So we're several adventures on already.

8 years is not the age for playing ED, they need to be older, however playing with you in short play sessions would probably be easier.
I played FSX with my son from around 8 years, but it was like take off and landings, now he lives in hes own apartment and we play together in DCS/Prepare3d when he/I got the time.

My 9 year old does decently with it in short bursts. Even my 16 year old doesn't have the desire to stick with it for more than half an hour or so. Generally, kids want a game they can jump in and out of quickly. I don't mind spending three hours of game time just jumping to a new area, but if they don't see some sort of progress during their game time, they lose interest and go back to console-style games I find.
