Park opening times and varied park guest numbers

I thought it would be nice to have an opening time and a closing time. Obviously this could be expanded on, so maybe like certain guests can get into the park and experience a set number of attractions before the park opens to everyone. There could also be like late night openings and stuff for events etc.

There could also be a day when a ride opens after a set amount of testing, where a load of guests come for opening day, resulting in massive queues for that ride.

The number of guests on park could also vary throughout the day, some could arrive late or leave early.

What would you do while the park is closed? Spend what ever money you have then sit around twiddling your thumbs until it opens again?

It could be toggled to speed through closing time if desired, exactly the same mechanic currently being used in some alpha maps.

I love the idea of opening /closing times

It's be like the game "The Sims." When a sim is at work, The day is still going but it can be fast-forwarded through time. It would give your park a more "realistic" feel, so you can see people leaving your park and coming when it first opens.
They could easily add things that you can do during the "closed hours." Testing rides, cleaning up the park for the reopening. They could have a "daily score" or something to tell you what guests want to see from your park, what made them the happiest, the saddest. Things you can change in your park to make it better for the next opening day. Some people want that down time of no visitors to fix up their park without having to pause the game or close the park completely.

I think the idea of an opening/closing is good and realistic and it DOESNT need to be 'skip to next opening time.' Besides, for anyone that DOESN'T wan t it, why couldn't a 24/7 park opening be an option?

Eh I don't consdier being 'realistic' always a good thing. There are times were you need to take into account it's a video game.

Sure you might build/test some rides one or two nights. But you're not going to be doing that every night. 90% of the time you'll be skipping it and it'll serve no purpose.

Besides, for anyone that DOESN'T wan t it, why couldn't a 24/7 park opening be an option?
Because the dev's can't add anything and everything, they need to pick and choose what they have time for

Time is already in the game. Opening and closing rides is already in the game. Having the option to open ad close all of the rides at the same time, was in an option in RCT3 and I'm sure will be an option eventually in this game. So, I really don't see the big deal. :)

it COULD work if a single day takes like an hour or longer, because every peep has to leave the park when it's closed and that doesn't work with a too small time interval.
This can be implemented for finances, we see daily reports, the weather forecast for the next day, hire more cleaners or change salary (or anything that sounds weird to change during workhours)

If the day/night cycle was long enough, you'd use the "closed" time for maintenance, cleaners, re-stocking the shops (if the simulation allows), building new rides and areas with less disturbance to guests. All depends on the cycle time.
I personally love the idea of the park opening and closing each day, as covered in other threads. I'd love to see hundreds/thousands of guests flooding the park each "morning" and then guests leaving at the end of the day. :)

I would be happy with the System of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.

Re-Stocking Shops is the Thing that annoys me most in Parkitect. It is so dumb that they have to haul the stuff from the Entrance of the Park to the very end of it. Please no shop re-stocking -.-
