Park Size

Hi all! I just built my first coaster in Sandbox mode, and I’m quite happy of the result. Ain’t that big: 37m highest drop, 785m length.
I noticed that there’s not that much space remaining, which is quite concerning because I’m planning to build a 14 themes park.

Don’t you think the park size (also in Sandbox mode) is too small? If we are supposed to build theme & water combined parks, and frontier will release hopefully tons of paid DLC themes, how are we supposed to do it?

Please Frontier, I know you will read this, increase the park size please 🥺

You may interested in testing something out: Load this park from the workshop 517Q6VLR4 .. and look if it runs smoothly. It´s even not the whole map, but it is a bigger one. Through design, the LODs are working good, because one edge is far away. I really have a doubt that overly big parks without a guest cap will run satisfying enough to experience or to watch =) I am interested what you think about this. Maybe I am wrong.

EDIT: Okay! Well .. somehow my graphics settings were all high (too high), so I tried the park with more moderate settings. Runs fluid again now! Sorry for the fail =)

I agree that the map size should be way bigger. EVEN if it requires better performance when you want to build big and dense. In my case, I just want to have the option to build more spread out. Have a monorail go from the hotels to the parks, you know, stuff like that…

no hotels, so i guess its not needed.

As far as i know, some guy messured the sandbox compared to zoo and 1. They were actually identical. it is 1 KM² or 100 Hectar or 247 Acres. This is the size of Europapark or Portaventura. (minus parking)

I actually feel this is a lot. So all in all you could if you want, build europes biggest park in the game with that space, for many parks you still have a lot of park space left. Energylandia for example uses 74 ha including the Waterpark. Out of experience i rarerly were able to cover up around 50-60% of the space in pc1 and that took me months. So crying about space in the first months feels like a little bit overambitious.

I know of quite a few parks that came close to filing the PC1 map, especially if they include parking lots and backstage areas, and several of those were parks I worked on myself.

But I'll agree that few will fill even the bench we have right away, but I have no doubt but that it will happen...

Depends on what level of detail you use for your parks as to whether you can actually build on anything larger without running into a wall with lag anyway, it''s different for each player. And another thing is that for some people building in PC they aren't recreating things in a 1:1 scale usually, because many structures in the game are scaled from the 4m high walls, so often structures just take up more room on the bench.

I am not saying, it wont happen totally, but first i believe this is the minority of players, secondly I believe this is an issue of the future. So it show be more or less down at the priority list.

Yes, the game runs smooth at the moment, but it hasn't been stress tested yet: How does the game run on a fully build map (with details) so probably around 100-200k items placed, then put 12k guests to the equasion, if the game then still runs good, we should talk about a map expansion. It may be a little bit of frustation, but i am slightly annoyed at the player base crying for this limits: 6k guests took ages in the previous PC1 and in the first three years, the game was dying if you had such amounts in the park.
The 1 gb download in the workshop was not much, but it is a lot (as long as there is no tmtk).
Now it is park size, a thing we could revist in the future, if we really need a bigger map.

Right now i am actually expecting two things from frontier:
  • fix the guest behavior (and maybe lower the guest spawn)
  • fix the economy that money has value

6k is a bad cap. I mean, I run PlanCo 1 with full sized park and 30k guests… If I can do it, why should I renounce? Most of the people can’t? Not my problem, I didn’t force them to build a big park.
