Does anyone else use this method to take down NPC's or CMRD's?
You'll need turreted weapons in the bottom of your ship as you fly bye and constantly harass your foe.
If anyone is a bit bored of the same approach then try turrets. And when dogfighting to get the upper hand, doing loop the loop, pitch down instead of up...
your turrets will constantly bombard them (target sub-systems of course) as your doing circles around them.
Been doing it with my Viper and I'm loving it, I never used to like turrets much but they certainly have a purpose, even on ships like the Viper (and the Eagle too).
Put 2.5 pips into Systems, 2.5 into Weapons and 1 into Engines (always gotta be charged if you need to bug out) and your turrets (at least on my setup) will constantly fire, even charging slightly
so you can fire your class 1 guns when the target is in front.
Interesting point, I've been doing this for a few hours and damn, these turrets are accurate at least versus the likes of a Clipper (Master NPC, in a RES)
Picture this, got his attention so I could have him all to myself...got him to follow me about 20 km from the res site. I got him between 2.5 and 3 km and started doing one massive circle around him, he's hit me here and there but could never drop my shields, I on the other hand...all my shots were hitting him, shields gone and after about 4 minutes he was gone.
I know this is not the most effective method of annihilating enemy ships but it's damn rewarding.
Like i said, If you want to try something unorthodox then give this a bash.
