Passenger complaints

Why not introduce a passenger complaints system:

Passsengers upset

by other cargo on board (biowaste/radioactives).
by ship arrival being late.
by unessesary combat.
by being overheated.
by collisions.
by being taken through enemy teratory.
be being forced to get off at the wrong station.

Passengers like

Smooth landing.
Arrival bang on time.

Passengers be given names and after a threshold be reached send comms messages such as.

"I feel sick"
"How I hate starship travel"
"Hurry up we are running late"
"what's up with the air conditioning?"
"Your the most dangerous pilot I've flown with"

More serious complaints could arrive by email and clog your inbox! Emails could include
fines from the passengers faction for endangering one of their citizens.

Passengers to vary in intolerance values. Some are easy going, some are troublemakers.

Pilots to have the ability to jettison selected passengers into space if they wish. loads of gameplay could come from that.

Potential passengers are choosable by.

Faction
Wanted status
Social class

From what I have seen of 2.2 the passenger section looks good anyway but to add characters to the passengers would add so much more to the experiance I think. It would make passenger haulage different, more difficult and there be a skill to it over and above regular cargo haulage.

I'm also hoping that bulk passenger missions will also offer up opportunities for "Wrinkles"-like a loss of air pressure in your passenger cabins, or a medical emergency.....or something like that!

This could evolve into resident passengers - keep them happy and they'll stay, you earn regular income, and in future have use of their skills.

Preferably model this on Dwarf Fortress for extra !!!FUN!!!.

...your ship has been destroyed due to a tantrum spiral in the lounge...

Smooth landing.

by being overheated.
by collisions.

I want to emphasize these. I think many ED players would agree that the part of ED that FDEV have done their best work in is the experience of flying: how the ships handle, the "feel" of the controls, and so on. Passenger missions be a great opportunity to add another kind of piloting challenge where how you handle the ship directly affects the outcome of a mission. It appears that the game already models how much g-force the pilot experiences, at least to some extent: you can sometimes "red-out" by making sharp turns in the Condor or Imperial Fighter in CQC, for example. It would be really cool if the game continuously modeled the g-forces you're subjecting your passengers to as you fly, and have your reputation as a space chauffeur suffer if you make overly sharp turns, boost too much, collide with things, etc.

Oh, and I'll add something else: life support. Your passengers won't be happy if life support fails and they have to breathe through a REM-lock. You did pay for REM-locks for all your passengers, didn't you? (On the other hand, I don't think that breaking the cockpit canopy should necessarily cause the passenger cabins to lose pressure; they should be okay as long as the life support module has power.)
