Passenger Liners.

One of the things Ive been looking forward too since I first saw them are the Passenger liners.

Orca, Dolphin, Beluga.

Other than the looks and the fact they obviously carry passengers thats about all we really know about them isnt?

I'm just wondering what role these beautiful space dwelling death traps will play.

I'm going to guess they arent flyable. I'd be more surprised if you could anyway.

I'm going to guess that if you could fly them they would be pretty cumbersome and virtually unarmed. You probably wish you hadnt saved up all those weeks for one.

Are they going to be just eye candy. Possibly.

Could you take a ride on one. I doubt it.

Would they be heavily guarded. Probably.

What would be the consequences if you blew one up. Murder multiplied by number of passengers.

Yeah, looking forward to seeing what these bring to the game. Maybe absolutely nothing.

How could we carry passengers if the passenger ships are not flyable??

In older elites you could buy a passenger bay for your ship. You could turn life support off and when you got to the station you realised you had no passengers but a ton of fertilizer instead.

Well I'm not sure if you could actually try to transport a passenger without a passenger bay, he just died on the trip if you tried.

I'm just going to guess that they wont be. Maybe they will. It would be like painting a target on your head though I guess. I bet when you feel like doing a passenger run its a quick shift to solo mode for most people :)

You see, here we just let them step into the very pretty ship with all the amenities and prestige that comes with being an interstellar traveler. Then, BAM, gas em with a hallucinogen, give em the best trip of their lives. When they come to, they will say it was the best cruise ever. Ya darn right it was...saves us millions on FSDs and fuel.

Going by the novels, there will be more than one way to transport people - the most luxurious way is by flying one of those passenger transport ships and the cheapest way is to use a cryogenic type pod but there are also cabins etc

ahhh yes it did.
Some passengers are looking to travel in a state of luxury, and will not accept anything less than the best service. In order to take these passengers players must invest in one of the games many passenger liners.

Yeah I see now, I thought it meant converting your ship into a luxury passenger ship with all the best cabins and stuff.

So they are definitely flyable. I wonder if you can hire escorts as I imagine they are pretty vulnerable
