Hi Cmdrs,

I have completed several passenger missions without issue, but have just come across an odd one. I engaged in a mission to take a guy to a tourist beacon 83ly away. It was in my available missions but had the caveat that my ranking was insufficient and should be Elite. However it let me accept the mission and appeared in my left pane as usual. I received a message from the passenger giving me details of the target planet.
I flew to the beacon without incident and waited for him to tell me to return to the starting station. However no message came so in the end I returned to the beginning station expecting to be able to claim by fee. Unfortunately there was no option to do this and in the end I had to abandon the mission.

If it is the case that my rank of dangerous was below requirements why did it allow me to take the mission?
Has this happened to anyone else?

The mission rank; higher than yours, means the NPCs coming for you are harder. Lower means they will be easier.

Look out for the 'sightseeing' word, this normally means you have to find 'visitor beacons' to be found near the planet in question. Like you would find combat zones, so don't get too close to the planet or you will miss it.

Check you cargo space is enough to take the 'extra mission rewards'. If you have no space, you cannot complete the mission.

Yep, took him to within 25 metres of the beacon as requested...perhaps he was one of these people you just cant please! he ate all the nuts on board as well!

Did you scan the beacon?

Also be aware of one thing, if you have a full cargo hold and the reward gives you commodities, have in mind that you won't be able to retrieve that mission until you sell some cargo and make some space for your cargo reward. This happened to me today and had to figure out by myself (took me 30 seconds to realise that though :p).

Okay, it happened again, but by targeting the beacon and then going into SUB CONTACTS in the left pane it started a scan. I was then able to get my reward once dropping off the passengers. Not sure why it didn't do it automatically but at least I have a fix if it happens again. Thanks for all your replies. GD
