Passenger Missions: You want to go WHERE?

Something you may run into trying out Passenger Missions (I'm actually enjoying them, now that I've figured a few things out), and may be a bug, or may be working as intended, and we just don't think like the programmers:

When you have a passenger Site-Seeing mission, these often include several stops in different systems. Perhaps your passenger wants to see the That's-No-Moon-It's-A-Space-Station beacon in system X, along with the So-That's-Where-I-Left-It Memorial in System Y, and finally pay a visit to The These-Aren't-The-Beacons-You're-Looking-For Beacon in System Z.

Finding the first beacon in system X is pretty easy - It shows up on the Gal map, even shows up on the System Map, and you can plot a course. Then the mission updates. You're off to system Y, but the Body still indicates a location in System X, and while the new destination shows a marker in system Y, there is nothing in the System Map for System Y.

But fear not - The marker you're looking for really is in System Y, you just have to fly around and look for it yourself. When close to a body, it will show up with a ( ) marker, just like Unidentified Signal Sources, and will reveal whatever it happens to be when you target it. Fly close, drop out of Supercruise, scan whatever it is, and the mission updates once again. Sort of.

You still have a Body from System X, but a destination in System Z, a Gal Map marker, nothing in the system, but just as with System Y, you'll find your goal in System Z, in a ( ) around something, somewhere.

Ugh.. some are easier to find than others, and some are even ON planets, which means dropping in from Orbital Cruise to find and scan them. But I have not found one that is actually broken or missing, just annoying.

Again, I don't know if this is bug - I suspect it is, at least as far as the Body not updating correctly, and it has been reported, probably more than once.

It is a bug, a well-reported one, and it's in the Known Issues thread along with instructions on how to get around it (like you said) until they get it figured out. But thanks for looking into it to be safe!

I don't think it's a bug, makes you work for your dinner. I've found every poi np. Guess you want every port spelled out for you. Hope this isn't changed just to make the few happy.

Hmm, it's a tourist trip, to well known points of interest. I don't recall when I was on holiday in New Zealand the tour bus driver wandering around for hours to find the Rotorua Hot Springs, there was a huge sign to start with. Tourist missions should be just that, straight forward, if you want to wander around aimlessly for hours go exploring.

Um. Yeah, I kinda see your point - however although there isn't a mission blob in the left-hand panel the poi is (so far as I've seen) usually explicitly listed and ties up with the name in the updated mission details, so not that hard to find -- even I've managed to find them (so far)...

It is inconsistent with how everything else is marked, but not game-breakingly so.

It is bugged, yeah, and inconsistent since we're always told the first body.

The tourist beacons do show up on the left hand panel from 1,000 ls out, though, and a quick check of the system map usually helps to identify the most probable candidates. (A part that explorer me shamefully admits to like, even if it is a bug. I may be a glorified tour bus driver, but that doesn't mean I've ever done that particular route. :) )
