Passenger Missions?

Now that we're all excited about Planetary Landings, we have forgotten about Passenger Missions & Walk About!
So if CQC will be 1.4 in Q4 then where does the main game features come in? (besides the fixes for stutter, mining limpets, more interactive NPC and use of features, etc.)
 
Although I doubt it conceivable to have player co-op Passenger Missions, the AI character would not only get a free taxi ride but should become a useful helping hand when needed...
1. be an auto-pilot to your NAV Target (useful when going long distances like Hutton Orbital and you need to get a break)
2. hmmmmmmmm, I can't think of any more practical ones really that allow us to remain in control. Ideas?
