When you are on a mission with Rich Tourists and Famour Explorer VIPS they have a primary destination
But what is they are also looking at your discover scan data as you go and if any intersting planets appear in your Jounal data it could have a % chance of trigger a mission wrinkle.
Famous Explorors might ask you to scan the planet
Rich Tourists might ask to drop into normal space by the planet (ie in its Sphere of influence) so they can take photos
So using my player jounal data
I am on a sightseeing mission and have a Rich tourist going to Assinda Visitor Beacon
Enroute I arrive in Aries Dark Region ON-T c3-3 4 and fire off my discovery scanner and it detechs both a water world and a Gas Giant with Ammonia life
We may not have scanned them yet, but were we to look at the system map look at the and listen to the planet's son we would know they are those types of planets
This I assume is my what Passengers are doing in game in lore
As "PlanetClass":"Water world" and "PlanetClass":"Gas giant with ammonia based life" are on an interesting world list
There is a % you might get a Message
"Commander, revewing the system map of this system you just scanned, I would like a Closer look at/a surface scan of the planet I have marked" Please scan the body/drop into normal space near the body"
With a Yes No Option
On Yes the target body is noted on the system map and you can scan it or drop into normal space close to it to finish the "side quest"
