Elite / Frontier Passing the Time

I'm wondering if this has been done before. Who's currently playing Elite Frontier or Encounters?
How much game time has elapsed on your current game?

I'll be playing FFED3D until ED is released.
My current Commander is in the year 3273, which is 23 years into the game :eek:

I am playing FFED3D at the moment, doing the Bomb Oxford Academy at THomson planet, and having difficulties for the bombs to hit its target. That would put me around Apr (or Jul) 28 the 2nd year. (At work and not at the game currently)

Best way to make the missiles hit (remember that there is a "miss" in the name, lol) is t fire from a distance and ramp up the time acceleration - this normally results in near-perfect accuracy in most versions of FFE.

This is correct. If there are only a few hostiles around, you may be able to get a short burst of time acceleration which will result in the missile reaching its target. When there are loads of baddies around, you won't be able to do that :(

Playing Frontier: Elite II on an accelerated A1200... using the Special Edition I released a couple of years ago

Here is a screen shot of my original save which I am gonna continue to reach Elite status:-

It's also the reason why Proteca was established in 3234 ;)

I've recently got back into playing the two games using emulators. Of course, none of my save games from the 1990s survived, either on the Atari TT030 or the PC.

Still, is this Elite enough for you?

I am playing both again. FFE3D and also Frontier Elite II on Dosbox.

For some reason I just cant get into FFE3D as much as I want to. FE2 seems to have a big nostalgia feel for me as I used to play it for days at a time on the AMIGA 1200.

I was I was exaggerating with that statement too.:eek: I did 48hrs once with no sleep and only stopping for making coffee and sandwich. The joys of being 13-14 at the time in summer holidays.

Only got a "posh2 (by that I means Windows and 3d accelerated PC) in Jan.
Put FFED3D on today, amazing - like elite of old, an entire day has gone.

Current Status after a day (sorry not http to linl to):
Below Average Sergeant-Major date 16/01/3251bViperII

Just carried out 2 x assasinations, 1 in an independent border client state, one in the imperium.(both were explorers). The 2nd one was cool, hard enoough with a 1MW beam laser to kill a sielded Imp Explorer. Aftet the fact (and via a courier), his mate turned up 3 x naval missles and plasma accelerato. Just spent the last 30 minutes pin-prickgng the explorer to death.

I am linking FFFED3D.

NPC Ships can have the Plasma Accelerators now?
I might stick with it.

Probably my wrong, regardless of what it actually is - effects is an instant death ray on a Viper II with 3 shields!!! I shall call it the instant death ray in future - until identified.

It is a blue beam, only seems to appear on the explorer (biggest ship I have encountered in FFED3D or original FFE). One touch even on a shielded PC Explorer 120+ shield units seems instant death.

I assummed big gun, is this "just" a 100MW beam laser I wonder??

While I do have - and enjoy to a degree - FFED3D, I still prefer playing on the old JJFFE (If only the church clocks weren't bugged on that - Land near one and you'll see they're turning so fast the towns use the clock towers as sawmills...)

I tend to drift one one to another. One day it could be Pioneer, FFE3D or Oolite, but if the old Eliteitus is really biting, then only that old Amiga 1.01 early disk version of Frontier will do, basically I have a load of Commanders on the go. Mmmmm, I have herd the BGS oxp has had an update, so must investigate that. However, in the meantime, I am working on some old "heretical" hardware at the moment to play Elite on so will likely get into that for a while. :eek:

I own fully working retro computers.

I have both a C-64 and Amiga 1200.

I was maybe going to get Elite for the c-64 on eBay.
