Past 2 days have given me some great experiences in elite but also some that just make me think - ah sooo close yet managed to snatch banality from the jaws of awesomeness.
So - doing an ilegal salvage mission, keep dropping on mission target USSs - wrong objects floating around, repeatedly - can't complete the mission (bug reported)
Whilst docking in the cutter (a big ship will destroy anything it rams or that rams it) so normally I'm really careful to stay to the 100 speed limit (although this is mega boring) hit from behind I think (I never saw anything), fined for reckless flying then murder, station defences open up on me inside the bay - no chance of escape - I tried to log but no time. So fair enough I was over 100 it can happen it's annoying and expensive (30million rebuy on my multirole cutter) if you don't want it to happen don't fly one yes fine. But then I realisedthat my 11 months of exploring to beagle round and back and forth through most of the eastern half of the galaxy has gone too - all those system maps I now can't look at and might as well never have visited. I didn't bother doing the powerplay to double the return on all that exploration data - I didn't want to risk crashing and loosing it all - again a harsh sentance.
But loosing the system map data just seems petty and vindictive, yep I know man up blah blah - but i bet the people saying this haven't done 11 months exploring and lost it.
Now currently as soon as I heard I flew out to take part in the station evacuation, it was one of the coolest looking things from the Frontier Elite expo. I took my cutter in, nearly cooked it - taken in a few hundred tonne's of basic medicines, collected a few occupied escape pods, grabbed some refugees in my hastily refitted ship. Now second time in, having picked up the escape pod misssions from the rescue ship, can't get them because they're floating outside the walls of the docking bay (inside the station from the outside). And on arrving at the rescue ship the only large pad on it is blocked by an npc beluga that's permanently camped on it.
My refugees have hilariously started complaining I'm taking too long and one group wants me to take them to the nearest starport - the station in distress!
I appreciate alot of this is general bugs with proc gen but surely it's not that hard to fix - procedurally tell escape pods not to float through walls, have more than one rescue ship, give it more pads in the design and apply the same rules to the npc as would be applied to us. As for loosing access to the system map data when you're destroyed - I personally think that should just go, fine if I'd crashed in the last month or so I'd have lost a billion in scan data but I didn't I got it home and sold it to UC, I should be able to see it.
Anyway my thoughts whilst floating in space listening to refugees complain and unable to do anything with them (Except the first group who now apparently aren't paying me
)
