Horizons Patch times

I know this is nitpicky, but is there any way we can petition the devs to set their patch times so that it doesn't shut down the western third of the US in prime playing time at 11 pm to 12 midnight. It seems as if at least a couple of times a week I finally get some time to myself to play and I get the 30 minutes til server shutdown message. If they could push the shutdown time til 2-3 am pacific time it would help our portion of the player base. I'd prefer to play ED, but I keep getting this excuse to play other games. It may just be me but its dang inconvenient.

I would prefer they made it six hours earlier, it's a pain at the moment because it hits right in the middle of the day here when I am playing.

No matter what time they pick, they will always affect a percentage of the playerbase.

They have to patch when they are awake for a start, which narrows the window. They can't go doing it at like 4am GMT just to please the US playerbase. Contrary to the the opinion of some people, the US is not the only country in the world of importance.

Besides, from what you are saying, its not patches that are affecting you, it sounds like its the weekly cylce, which last... 30 mins?

BEST OF ALL....We have the TALIBANS and the ISIS...and God knows who else to repel any invasion.. from Congo virus to the Thargoids...:x

It's called "weekly scheduled maintenance". It requires personnel to actually be at the office (and awake). Deal with it and read a book :p

The point was for them to check the population density of players in each time zone (I'm sure they have internal reports of their server loads) and pick a time zone that wouldn't impact such a large segment of their player base. I'm pretty sure a time zone that has around 100 million people in just the north american and canadian areas , not even counting the southern hemisphere, will have a substantial number of players. Why annoy that large segment of your customer base a couple of times a week. Pick a zone where you have fewest players then go for it. As for them needing staff, I'm pretty sure server rooms for a service that is offered 24/7 are staffed 24/7. As I said, I knew I was being picky but I just have the wonderful luck of having those patch nights usually being 2 of the 3 or 4 nights a week when I can play. If others are like me, they (and any friends they are gaming with) just migrate to some other game for the night and don't come back to ED.

Staff in server rooms outside normal business hours are there, if they are at all, for emergencies not routine maintenance, usually one or two at the most, usually just enough to manage a safe shutdown if necessary. Any scheduled maintenance will be done when when staff are scheduled on for that task, any time you shut a major system down and restart it there is always the possibility for surprises. In a production environment you simply don't do scheduled maintenance when only emergency staff is rostered on.
