Path Tunneling

I might be doing it wrong, but I thought the path would make the terrain conform under it?

I have some undulating hills and was trying to lay a path over them. When the path is obstructed because of the terrain, I can only seem to cut a flat and level path into the terrain. I cant seem to make a sloped path that adjusts the terrain to match the paths limits.

I was expecting the flatten option to make the terrain flat with the underside of the path. So if I was making the path go uphill the terrain would build up under it and if I was going down hill the terrain would be dug out under it.

Not being able to do this makes the feature kind of pointless and only really useful if you need to make a totally flat path. I have not had time to spend more than an hour messing about with it, so I might have missed something?

No, you didn't miss anything. As far as I understood it was always going to be the "flatten to foundation" terrain tool selected when placing paths. In the livestream Sam showed the feature and when raising the path nothing happened. It would still be nice to see this coming though.

Duno i think this path tunnelling is a huge let down like its useless the ground should follow the height of the path and whats with the huge space round it when making a tunnel we should have the option to pick the size of clearance at the sides off the path and that huge space under the path is crazy big let down.

There's a way round that last issue if you use Flatten Terrain - be aware though that it doesn't work on sloped paths.

I Just tried the new 'Improved' version (1.6.1.) to see if any of my bugbears had been fixed and I could go back to playing (Doing other stuff at present, hoping that one day things will be 'fixed'. Unfortunately you still can't raise or lower terrain under or around paths. Very disappointed (still!). Maybe fix some of the 'fundamentals' before releasing any more DLC!

I agree with this. FD seems move concerned with given us new "shiny things" to play with than actually tackle the fundamental problems with game, the pathing system being one of them. Even the seasoned PlanCo YouTubers often comment on their frustrations when laying paths.
