Pause issue

Is there a way to actually Pause the game, I've pressed 'P' which seems to pause it but after returning and resuming the game I found I've been killed off. Also tried pressing 'P' and shutting the throttle off, this also has no effect. It's no fun dying to go to the loo and you can't because your in the middle of travelling.

Doe's any-one have an answer to the Pause issue.:)

There is no pause. The in-game clock continues to run regardless. Your best bet is to either: a) hang-on until you have landed somewhere, b) drop out of super cruise, pootle into space away from planets, asteroids and stars, and log-out, or c) have an empty bottle or pan to hand.

It's a leftover from the proposed and infamous offline mode, one suspects. Either that or Frontier have a slightly warped sense of humour. Like many things it should have been seen to long ago, but hasn't been.

Yeah, one of the few times I've lost a ship (playing cautiously and in solo) was when I was called to dinner and failed to log-out correctly (annoying but insurance covered it).

If when you next pause - could you let me know and I will try and stand very very still.

As others have said it's a shared online game (even in solo) so a pause mode won't really work.

This has to be implemented!

When ever a player pauses the game, a Galaxy wide message pops up "CMDR <insert name> has Paused the game! Stop what you are doing!"

As Tacheel suggests, the only viable way I can see for you is the next time you need to pause, post a thread here on this forum and we'll all wait until you get back from the loo.

In all seriousness... it does take a bit of getting used to. However, after a while, I think it becomes second nature - when to log-out, how long you need for a mission, working out when it might just be ok to leave for a wee whilst in super-cruise with only a tiny chance of coming back to destruction.

the bottle sounds the best choice so far,

thanks
guys

My top tips:

If travelling in hyperspace zero your throttle. It gives you at least 10 minutes before you hit the star at the end of the jump. Usually you don't get interdicted immediately either unless a player is waiting. I normally have time for a very short toilet break or drinks break if I zero throttle during the countdown and go.

If in supercruise slow to a stop and drop out. Its very very rare that a NPC randomly comes across you if in normal space in the middle of nowhere.

If you are at a Nav beacon/RES/station I'd apply full throttle in a clear direction and leave, even if ships try to kill you they are going to have a hard time with you at full speed unless you fly a T9 or something. When you get back you can always supercruise to where you were. (Alternatively quit to menu and re-join game afterwards).

My preferred method of pausing is to drop out of supercruise, boost in a general direction then turn off power to all modules except life support. You are then a chunk of ice spiralling through space pretty much invisible to anyone's radar.

Either that or exit to main menu but method 1 is so much more fun!
