pay to not grind suggestion - premium insurance

Not a favourite topic but here goes. Controversial too no doubt.

pay 10% of a ship cost (sans modules) to have no rebuys on that ship. Pay meaning "real money" and only per ship - not per class of ship. Yes, taht is real money and a microtransaction. Yes it can be seen as "pay to win" but is it really? I would say pay-to-not-grind, afterall, why are people goldrushing? Is it to buy ALL THE SHIPS AT ONCE! or is it to play the game without worrying about losing money?

With the new bounty IF complications, taht ship you just bought "premium insurance" would mean you want to look after that ship a little more. It would also mean you wouldnt mind taking a punt at thargoids rather than "look, im sorry im Duke Rear Admiral JimmyChoosShoes, but im down to my last 50M so cannot afford to go guns blazing with my corvette into that station - I might die and cannot afford to save those burning womens, childrens and refugees's".

This would be a good way for FDev to get money and the game model would be pretty much the same now - there is no NEED to buy the premium insurance and TBH it is probably the dangerous professions that would want to anyway.

Due to the complex nature of the game and the vast variety of play-styles, this would not be a good idea.
Even if you argue that it's not straight up pay-to-win.. depending on your play-style, it can be just that.. or just a step away.

For starters it would mitigate the whole effort they just put in, in attempts to reduce 'seal-clubbing' (griefing / killing of new players in large expensive ships) if players no longer had to worry about rebuy costs (and all the penalties that are based on that value for non-fair pvp).
Plus it would make the whole game unfair as there are plenty of people out there who would have no problem with dishing out endless amounts of cash to get an edge (any edge) ingame :)

The example you brought up however is an interesting one and THAT on the other hand could be further investigated (aka. the fighting thargoids part).
For example they could implement situations in the game that could be explained without breaking immersion, like if you're an accomplished thargoid hunter and killed at least a few aliens.. the pilots federation could pay your rebuy cost in the situation where you get killed by thargoids only. This would be their way of helping out independent pilots who aid with the fight against the aliens.. Obviously all bounties / etc would still be paid by the player to prevent abusing the system to clean your ship..

Just a thought :D

You'd pay hard earned real cash to rebuy your ship, over the easy mountains credits that we trip over in game?

How many times do you die?!

I've only lost my big ships to docking incidents, usually involving me speeding in to something far smaller, or botching a landing and flattening a skimmer...

Haven't lost either of my Anaconda's in combat yet. And one is unarmed, and undershielded and gets pulled over by pirates constantly.
And the other one just wins every time. Lol
