PC Account Transfer

Greetings,
After backing and playing Elite since early 2013 my commander is at a healthy rank and credit rating...
I would love to buy ED for my PS4 pro, but what I wouldn't love is doing a 2 year catch up all over again (2014 wipe release), especially my fed/imp rank
Will we be able to transfer are pilot account from PC across to PS4?
If yes, then a day one purchase, if no, I'm not sure I could flush 2 years of gameplay down the toilet for the sake of playing the same content all over again, but on a different system...

I would be willing to incur a small charge for the transaction to take place that's not a problem, the big problem is it will be 2019 when I eventually resume from where I logged out on PC...

Would love to here an official response on this...

I dunno if you can transfer from the PC to a console, but I just had a transfer done from the Xb1 to the PC and I have some bad news for you.

They can only transfer credits and value of assets. Rank progression and faction progression do not transfer. It was a tough thing to swallow as I was Baron with the Empire, Pioneer and Entrepeneur rankings on my Xb1 account. All of that was lost, but I had 852M credits transferred over to my PC account, as that was my total value of my assets over there.

EDIT: Which reminds me, I really gotta update my sig, lol.

Though, starting fresh on a new platform isn't really a chore imo. I love my alt CMDR (on the same platform that is) But starting with a new CMDR makes me do thing right the "first time" i try.. lol.

Besides, (speculation alert!!) maybe someday in the future we are able to transfer accounts with full assets.

Earning money and rank is already a chore and only gets worse with every patch. I feel sorry for anyone getting the PS4 version who decides they want a cutter or corvette cause I can't imagine rank is going to be anything but even harder to get after they "fix" mission stacking.

Surely it must be possible to transfer users over, at the end of the day it is just numbers on a server, or just a case of renaming a user to the PSN name?

I can understand that people would want to move their accounts across from xbox or Pc to Ps4, but please, please can there be a freeze on this at the start. The last thing we need if we're to encourage new players to Elite is them finding that on a brand new platform there are people already cruising around in speced out clippers and corvettes that they cannot hope to be able to acquire themselves any time soon.

I'm actually looking forward to the chance to start fresh on a level(ish) playing field without most of the unbalanced money making opportunities that have plagued the game to date.

I imagine most people would be happy to have the just the cash value of their assets and their major faction ranks transferred.

You can do this because you often set these parameters when resolving bug reports.

I would almost certainly buy the PS4 version if it's performance is better than on the XBox (which is, frankly, poor since 2.2), but not if I cannot transfer my assets.

You are basically saying you can only play E

IF you buy it on day one?
And you dedicate the required number of hours to the game each week?

A few players with lots of cash around won't break the game. Especially considering the number of players around will be small. On the off chance they did, you can always fall back to solo.

I wont mind having to start over on ps4. I think the large, expensive ships just aren't as much fun to fly, and so having to start a new cmdr will make it all fresh again. I've been flying the keelback tonight and it's much better than I remember -it feels like it has had a buff?

I might move my xbox cmdr out to jaques permanently before the ps4 version drops and have the best of both worlds (until scorpio arrives too)

Now if only someone at fd could let me know what ps4pro features they are aiming to have so I can keep an eye out for a cheap one of those as well...

Stuck in a dilemma now, don't want to play on PC for the fear of wasting my time as won't be able to copy my commander to PS4......

But there is hope from the PS4 Frontier FAQ

Can I transfer my CMDR save to the PS4 from my PC, Mac or Xbox?
We understand this is a desired request but we have nothing to announce at this time.

I am looking forward to starting over. Not having a large bank roll to start brings extra challenge to have forward progression. Getting the Python (or pick your fav ship) for the first time on a character can be quite an achievement.

Not bringing in existing characters might also help keep the open playing field a bit more even for awhile. Not sure if I will play in private like I have done almost exclusively on the PC.

If I could believe that some people wouldn't use it to embark on a whole new round of seal clubbing I'd almost agree. I just think that the experience those of us who already play have is bonus enough, ideally everything else should be level as possible at the start. A few months in is another story altogether.

I'm currently not buying any skins because i'm unsure if i'll be able to take them over to the ps4.
I don't own a cutter,but i would have bought the chrome skin by now.
I assumed(wrongly)the xbox version you simply had to sign in with your old account info.

Can't you guys just establish a mirror image of the server and upload that content as a carbon copy to the other client? I'm speaking alien, but I expect you guys can work this out, surely. I don't want to grind horrible navy missions for rank again when the navy missions are actually just horrible ordinarily chore infested civil missions with an alignment attached.

Give us actual military missions like Elite 2 had.

Although the community manager is saying they "don't have the tech" - which is a bit of an odd answer as if they can make life like planets and a realistic galaxy with all the stars I am sure they can transfer some stats from PC to PS4 - it must just be a database after all.

So thats pretty much as clear as mud I would say - which I am guessing means they will do it if enough people say they want it.
