PC: Cursor lock issue that is driving me crazy

Maybe someone can help me because it's driving me mad.

In a mining rig, after firing seismic charges, abrasion blaster or displacement missile, the cursor lock turns itself off, so that moving the mouse does not steer the ship anymore, but rather rotates my view inside the ship. It is annoying beyond belief.

What is causing it? Headlook switch is bound to middle mouse button, never changed it and I think it's the default. It's as if my left click button does the same thing but only when firing.

Logical—by default, the middle mouse button switches to Headlook. You will need to remove that setting if you want to use it for the Seismic Charges!

Try checking Controls, Ship Controls, Mode Switches, Headlook. If the mouse button is there, select it then press Escape; that should remove it. Confusingly, that setting is within Mode Switches as opposed to Headlook Mode, the latter of which concerns only the operation of Headlook once activated.

If it is confirmed to not be a double keybind, start looking at the mouse itself.

Is there grit inside that might be causing two buttons to be pressed or manipulated when only one is pressed.

If the mouse has its own control software, make sure that it is not sending other outputs as well.

Or depending on the age of the mouse, it might be the buttons or wires inside are shorting out, causing errant phantom button presses on the others.

Ah! Misinterpreted; I had in mind that one of your fire-buttons (primary or secondary) might have been set to conflict with Headlook.

Either way, start with disabling the means of activating Headlook as I listed. If you still see errant activations then I am out of ideas, otherwise you can then try reintroducing it to check whether it was just the control setup misbehaving. If the mouse itself insists on telling Elite that you are pressing multiple buttons when you are not, I think the best immediate action you have is to leave it disabled or set it to use a non-mouse means.

Hmm, yeah that sounds plausible though I don't experience it in any other software or games. Probably best workaround would be to remap headlook to something else. What's baffling is that mining lasers don't cause that - it's the same action (left button fire).

Thanks for the help.
