As a new player should I be concerned about investing any time in the PC version or ED in general based on this link that I saw on utube this morning. Investing any time in any game is a 'waste of time'. So you know, it's your call really. Oh and check the 'News&Bulletins' thread for a direct answer to this from Sir David Braben himself. 
Buy the game if you like whats available now, and not what 'might be'.
Yamiks has no special status with insider knowledge of the development of the game.

Thanx for the inputs and sorry I gave the impression that I did not have the game yet. I currently have had the steam, PC version for about a week now and bought it with 75% off the goin price. I know its still a win win for me but was just curious as to the future of ED judging from the mass hours everyone has into the game.
Didn't I read that in light of this console decision that they were investigating full migration?

I had suspicion right from the start of odd it would not fit on a console
and sorry to say for those but I am glad its development now has more focused direction

Elite Dangerous is still receiving new content on the PC, and likely will for the foreseeable future. But even if development ended tomorrow for some reason, it's still a wonderful space ship experience that's worth having, especially with how cheap you can get the base game these days.
Don't rush into the grind. The smaller ships can be some of the most fun and rewarding to fly. And if you need help with anything in the game, there's plenty of new player groups out there ready to take you under their wing.

Up to you. EDH on its own is a great game and worth the time investment, personally I wouldn’t ’invest’ fiscally regards skins etc, because that’s digital content which eventually may get turned off at some point in the long distant future - each to their own, if you can afford to.
EDO is now FD primary base code, they will want to maintain that and build upon it into the future, so eventually EDH will get replaced and EDO will likely (3-6 years) go on sale…or you’ll just get it ‘free’ like with ED and EDH.
I would not buy EDH on console now, as it will eventually get shelved. But go buy EDH PC on sale, it runs very well on old tech and probably has another 3+ years life in it before it’s shelved.
EDO only really brings FPS action and slightly better graphics and atmospheric landings (kind of)… overall it’s not much else - I do feel it’s overpriced but as I mentioned it might eventually be free when it replaces EDH…

Yamiks sounds good when you're new to the game because he articulates your own ignorance. As you develop as a Cmdr you wind up leaving him behind.

The most important thing to remember is there is no Meta, no end game, no stress.
You will end up using ships for what they are not designed for just because you can.
Take your time with engineering and if you are in EDO don't get stressed over the suit grind, none of it is needed, sure it makes life easier but..
