Hardware & Technical Pc Spec question

Hi guys,

Just bought my first rig and need to know if I h​ave any improvements to make before I jump in. Pretty sure on all my other specs its just the 3 below.

Specs

Gpu: Geforce GT 730
CPU: intel core i7-4790k 3.6ghz
Memory: 8.00GB RAM


Would love to run on max, but just getting it going would be a start

The GT 730 is a very underpowered card, like all Nvidia cards below *50's. That 730 is actually just a rebranded GT 620, which is especially morally bankrupt even by Nvidias standards (further update: there are actually 3 different models all called GT 730, all of them are utterly terrible).

I would save money on the i7 (swap for an i5) and use the money to buy a real graphics card.

You definitely need to upgrade the GPU - but that may lead to needing an upgraded PSU too (depending on which PSU you have now).

I agree with the others who have already posted.

That GPU is crap, get a better one.

As you have enough spare cash lying around to get i7-4790k, you should definitely get a GTX980 (or 970 if you want to spare some money).

And that probably means (like Cody said) that you need to change the PSU too - a 650W good brand (Corsair, Enermax, BeQuiet or Seasonic for example) Bronze or better rated unit will do just fine.
