PC-VR Quest 3 fixes for white haze, sporadic cannot connect with tether, and sometimes "Cannot authenticate" with Steam

Hello, if this helps anyone right now thats cool, but I am typing this up so the search engines find it for some poor soul later.

Go to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics and open OculusDebugTool.exe (or where ever you installed Facebook's big bag of spyware)

To get rid of the white haze, under "Oculus link" disable "Sliced Encoding" Sliced encoding is an optimization that kinda doesn't reliably work, the idea is the HMD draws to the display immediately instead of waiting until the entire frame arrives. For a good system I think that's saves like .2ms at best when at 120HZ but I believe it has ~7ms which is generally plenty of time. Probably better to step down to 90Hz first. Anyway....

If your HMD is plugged in but it cannot see the host computer, in the debug tool, go to the "Service" section on the top menu bar. Click "Restart Ocusuls Service" I suspect the service is actually two digital hamsters running in wheels and one or both fall asleep randomly.

Also make sure your tether is USB-C to USB-c or alternatively a USB-C to red slot USB-B which is USB 3.2 (the ty one that never goes in so you end up flipping it twice). If you don't have a red slot USB, try to find a blue slot which is 3.0. If you have neither, either get a new computer or see if there is a PCI 8x to USB card (I don't know if they actually exist).... but really I am sorry but you're gonna need a new pute or else you're in for a lot of struggles to avoid dying from digital vertigo.

One thing I haven't figured out yet, if you whip your head up/down or left/right too quick you get these jagged edge jitters. Haven't been able to pin that down yet, but I know it isn't a GPU issue as nvidia-smi & GPU-Z looks fairly calm.

Last, if you keep getting auth errors, go into Ocusulus link mode, using video pass thru go to your Elite Dangerous game dir, and start using the Elite launcher exe. NOTE you will need a real email address with password bonded/setup to your Steam account. Unfortunately I did that like 7 years ago so damn if i remember how to do it now.
