Newcomer / Intro PC/Xbox one game

I am curious with the game coming out to the xbox one, will the pc gamers need to rebuy it if they want it for the xbox one too?

I want to know if PC users will be playing in the same "Open Play" as console users?

In the XBox One announcement post, DBOBE states:

I’m also pleased to announce PC, Mac and Xbox One players will all share the same overarching narrative and galaxy state. That means even more players contributing to the wars, power struggles and Community Goals across the galaxy.

.... and does not explicitly state that console users will be able to play with PC / Mac users.

Can't be bothered to search but I believe in one of the dev updates it was stated that console gamers will share the background simulation but not the instances. Presumably because they will not be able to patch as quickly on consoles and so PC/Mac uses could get updates sooner, not to mention disparities on control options.

They haven't ruled out cross play, the devs said they're looking in to it.

I'm personally up for crossplay as more cmdrs you can see in the game would be a good thing. I don't think it will happen though, just sharing the background sim.

I'm still looking for the post, but I'm 99% certain that there will not be cross play due to delays in the patching process on xbone/ps4. As a result community goals etc. will lag behind for the consoles.

Yes you would have to buy the Xbox version.

Will it be possible to log into the game as the same commander, for example, playing on XBO for a while, before continuing as the same commander from the same position on a PC.

In other words, are player accounts platform specific, or do they span platforms.

I suspect that's undecided yet. But that would be cool though.

This is presuming 'open' in both versions is the same instance cloud. I think it'll be very much more like the difference between open and group. I don't think we'll be physically seeing XBone CMDRS in the pc version, we'll just share the simulation. I could be wrong though.

From everything I've read it could be that the overall advancement of the universe between both games will be linked. So players will be able to advance and affect systems and the development as a whole.

I'm fairly sure that the two platforms will be separated as people on X1 won't be able to leave their contraints of a Console Controller and upgrade to a flightstick. Also there's the whole 'fairness' aspect to it, where the basline for X1's is all the same and PC's have more varied specs and performance.

Really it comes down to what Frontier decides to do. I for one think it'd be great to be able to share your account across platforms, or at least have the choice to duplicate your save from PC onto the X1 version of the game.

Either way, if there's more people playing the game, it will prosper and become something much larger than it already is. :)

I play solely using my controller right now, as I'm sure many others do. I'm not sure this is a case where control scheme would have a significant impact (unlike fps games where controller players wouldn't stand a chance)

Deadzones, response curves, precision, flexibility.

I 've been playing with both recently, and there really is no comparison. The joystick wins, especially if you're using fixed weapons. Gimballed weapons are effectively aimbots in space.

Not just Joystick curves, add in Pedals, Track IR, Nvidia Surround or Eyefinity; even Voice-attack. Pc users would have an advantage if they run any of those options.

True, but you also have an advantage over many PC players too. It's a game that already has an established I inequality and no oes complaining

It would be cool if they came up with their own HOTAS for the XBOX one users as a bundle pack. It can be something they could sell separately for pc/mac users as well.
