PC - XBOX Shared Universe?

What's the word on this? I know it's obviously been answered before but I've been away from the forums for a bit and I can't remember any word coming out clearly about this point.

Will we have a shared universe in the sense that my friend now has elite on xbox and I play it on the pc, can we physically fly together in space? Or will we not be able to do that?

I can't remember where I read it, but my understanding is that Microsoft's patch cycle and Frontier's cycle will be out of sync, therefore rendering the possibility of Xbone and PC players play together, unlikely. You could always trade in your Xbone-toy-thing for a real PC, then.. problem solved. There are many many many threads and sites out there showing you how you can do that, for the same price as one of the consoles.

it would be nice if you could do cross-platform groups. the only person i know IRL who plays Elite Dangerous is an Xboner, and I'm PC. No chance of either of us switching either.

Shared Galaxy means that your friend will play the same Power Play and will do the same missions or other things for support of minor faction in BGS as you. BUT, you will not be able to meet each other in game. You can imagine it like you and your friend are playing in different groups.
