Greeting Commanders!!!

Well I thought I would try and see if I could get a Viper from LP98-132 to LHS 3006.
Exceeds jump by about 0.8tons.
So the way to do this is to lock onto another point that you can jump to, engage super cruise, then hit your galaxy map, click on destination out of jump range and rev up your super-cruise....

Can't get to destination as I hit 1,216c then coped a "interdiction" which was 5 pirates..

Barely got out alive, but was wondering is this FD's way of stopping me from getting to destination?
Destination distance didn't change at all just stayed on 9.72ly even going 1.216c for over 20 mins.

Question:- Anyone gone faster than that?

I hit somwhere above 1400c once but got bored to continue afterwards. I heard the top speed is 2000c.

I'm disheartened that you didn't get any closer. I'm sure the devs have hinted that it should, in principle, be possible.

Hopefully it's just a beta bug and will be ironed out later....

At a constant speed of 1,216c travelling 0.01ly should take you around 4.3 minutes, but I bet you weren't constantly travelling at that speed you were probably gradually accelerating.

You will not get any closer to your destination. I've tried it. Elite is a universe of boxes. You can only move from one box to the other by using hyperspace jump. Think of hyperspace as a fancy loading screen for the next level.

That is simply not true.

Well I sure was travelling at that speed for well over 10 mins

Maths isn't my strongest point, but I agree with Mu77ley.

I'd done 1,000c (at which I reckoned one light year would take 8 3/4 hours) for about 10 minutes before also coming to the conclusion that SC travel between systems isn't possible.

That is simply not true.

Unfortunately it is true, just a series of 'skybox' images. Where your at, will decide which is loaded, that's why its impossible to get from system to system without SC/HJ.

PG in Ed, is either not implemented yet, or is misleading..

Point your ship at a star, put it on full power, leave it run for a day, the star will still look as far away as when you started, you can't fly to a skybox..;)

For PG you need to look at Space Engine, gives you an idea of what is possible.

I read about somebody using FSD to travel a a fractional ly so they could make a jump that was otherwise just out of reach. It has been reported to work.

I think what happens there is that you burn off a little fuel, making you lighter.

I was also kind of disappointed when I realised that there are in fact loading times in the game. The developers say the game will have no loading screens, which seems a deliberately misleading thing to say (despite technically true, since nowhere it does read "loading" or s.th).

I'm also exited to see if No Mans Sky will really feature seamless planet to space transition, as promised, or if they use some blending mechanism, too.
