Pedals... worth it?

I've been playing with a T. Flight Hotas X since the beginning and I love it, I currently use a customized setup based on Crab settings.

So, after reading about others using pedals such as the ch pro pedals I'm wondering if I should buy one.

What pedals do you guys recommend? And what controls do you bind to them?

I had and still have Saitek pedals, but I don't bother with them in this game. In a WW2 flight sim flying through atmosphere and trying to bend my nose from the flight path to a target, yes!~ I would be using them, but in here I can get a decent yaw from the hat switch. Pedals are not cheap either, so make your decision wisely.

I bought a £30.00 Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel thingy that came with pedals.

Only has two pedals, but I use them for Yaw...works bloody wonders.

EDIT:

I fly fa-off and Yaw was always my nightmare, in fa-on Yaw was never much of an issue for me.

CH Pro Pedals user here and love it. Took some time to get used to it. I think you have better control of the stick because you don't twist your hand.
I use yaw axis is for yaw, left/right toe brake for down/up thrusters.

Interesting question, as i plan to buy the Saitek combat rudders. I have been thinking a lot about how to configure it. The horizontal axis would be nice for yaw and the pedals for left and right maneuvering thrusters. Other suggestions would be welcome :)

I've got Saitek pedals that I use when flying flight sims (along with a saitek yoke, gauges, switches, throttles, yada yada yada). It feels "wrong" for ED though. I use a Saitek X52 and twist the stick for yaw in ED. In Rise of Flight (WW1 flight sim) I use the stick and pedals coz that combo feels more appropriate to early biplanes.

Your mileage may vary.

My setup is in the form of Saitek's HOTAS X-55 and yoke I also have rudder peddles (not used at the moment) which I hope to use for the SRV
together with the yoke for driving and use the HOTAS stick for the guns..

I have no idea as yet but will see when we get the SRV..

I'm also wondering bout the pedals, cause my X-55 throws out some probs after 9 months of usage.
Bought 'slightly used', so, no original invoice...

The only upgrade would be the Warthog, and i can only see 2 pedals worth buying so far,
the Saitek Pro Flight and the CH Pro Pedals.
I'm not willing to throw out more than 200€ for pedals, so no 'combat' version...

I have ch peddles but like an earlier poster, don't use them for elite. War Thunder a dcs their a must. Elite, not so much

Using a TM Warthog that doesn't have twist-yaw and playing flight sims, I'd consider them mandatory. Can't really say if it's worth it for ED alone and when using a HOATS with twist yaw - depends on personal preference and your budget I'd say.
I use Slaw Device pedals (the second one Lysander lysan linked) and am perfectly pleased with them - used to have Saitek combat pro flight rudders but didn't really like them - the base is too plasticky for my taste.

I have a Warthog, but also do racing sims. Since 1.3 or 1.4 by Fanetc Clubsport Elite pedals have become default binding without specialist 3rd party software and they are perfect.
I would get some cheaper pedals, they really make a difference and as said, especially if you are into other flight sims. If you are into driving sims, get some driving pedals.

You're a crazy person just like me :D

I bought pedals specifically for Elite Dangerous
.
The reason I bought them specifically was large ships through the slot, it was far easier to line up the ship with pedals than anything else
.
At that time the docking computer was next to useless - now it has its act together the pedals are just something to rest my feet on under the desk, though I do sometimes use them whilst mining

I have the CH Pro Pedals, great product. I had them prior to Elite so always used them, feels natural to me. I've had a twist rudder on an old stick but it found it tricky to do precision moves as moving one axis tends to have a parasitic effect on the others. Maybe it was just a cheap stuck though!

My only issue with Pro Pedals is because they use a pair of tension springs, the applied force is nonlinear about the neutral position. A tension spring has to have a certain force applied before it will extend and then after that it roughly obeys Hookes law.

I passionately hate twist yaw. It's something that on paper should work great but that personally I never find properly natural. Having said that, the price of pedals seems ludicrously high to me, so I made my own with an arduino pro micro and some bits in my garage (I lie, I had to buy 2 springs from a local hardware store). They are far from pretty, but the precision in yaw I get and the natural feel is fantastic. Fully recommend the experience, just not sure the commercial versions really justify the price.

Mkay, where to send my money to? Shipping to Germany? :D

I have some Fanatec Elite racing pedals, and I have heard of other people using these in Elite.

How would I bind the pedals to the Yaw Axis?
