People are starting to stretch in their defence of the flaws

Just an observation. Some of the lengths people are going to ignore the games flaws are laughable.

Bad AI, ie herbivores not running - I've seen people try to claim that is natural behaviour. Which it might be while the carnivore isn't doing anything. But for a dinosaur to not run when it's been charged or just staying still why a carnivore attacks another... Wouldn't happen. It's poor AI

Lack of cosmetics

People vtry to claim cosmetics and decorations won't work on console controls. Which ignores the fact consoles have had park/city builders in the past with small cosmetics and worked fine. Even the PS1 had theme park and theme park world.

Now I'm also seeing people try to claim it's not a park builder but a money management sim with dinosaurs? What?... No. No it isn't.

People also saying Frontier aren't going to reveal bthe whole game. Well yeah, nobody is asking for that. But the fact we haven't vseen ONE placeable decoration in the screenshots and videos is worrying. They're not in game. Otherwise Frontier would have shown their main Street looking as good as possible with fountains, benches, signs etc.

Also people dismissing them as old builds. It was confirmed the past demo the youtubers played was actually pretty recent and, one of the developers said all that's left to do is polish.

Sad thing is, what we've seen in recent videos is looking like pretty much the finished product.

Saying that I have no doubt they'll improve it with patches. Think we have a No Man's Sky situation-- mediocre release which becomes great 6 months down the line.

It definitely will NOT be a "No Man's Sky" situation. No Man's Sky suffered from being over-hyped from the moment the original game play video was released. The expectations for Jurassic World Evolution are nowhere near as high as they were for NMS.

Issues such as Dinosaurs not running from predators when they should are easy tweaks to the AI. Hopefully they'll get that sorted out before the game is released.

As for cosmetics ... be careful what you wish for. If you look at Frontier's online store you'll see that one of their major income sources is from cosmetic items. I'm almost 100% certain that JW: Evolution will have plenty of cosmetic items to let you customize your park. I am also nearly as certain that those cosmetic items won't be free.

As for the game footage that we've seen online being "pretty much the finished product" ... I doubt it. Their other games also looked fairly feature complete while in Beta but the finished releases were much more polished (and still required numerous patches to fix all of the broken game play issues.)

I was really excited for the game but I think I’m going to hold off buying it. Let’s let some reviews roll in first and go from there. I’m still hoping there’s a more creative side to the game than what we’ve seen so far.

I still greatly dislike the locked in turn based combat sequences. It feels more like those awful mobile games than a modern AAA game when it comes to combat. Way too much scripted actions and limited dynamic behavior

I disagree, hype isn't as much with casual gamers. But for JP fans it's huge. And alot of those people are going to be disappointed. In Frontiers credit they haven't misled people the way no man's sky did by promising features vthey didn't deliver.

As for AI, if it was an easy fix surely they'd have done it for the event to make the game look as good as possible.

If they leave cosmetics out solely for dlc then that's very EA of them. I don't mind dlc when it's used to extend a game. Not make half a game into a full one.

DLC extra maps like San Diego or JP Europe, by all means. DLC extra digsites a few months down the line, definitely. DLC cosmetics which should be in the base game.... Nope. That's EA level.

Agreed. It doesn't look fluid at all. It should be doable to program Dino Vs Dino combat that looks decent. Horizon for example had dino-like machines able to fight each other and look good.

To be fair, these things might be fixed before the game is released. And if they're not, they might be fixed via patches in the future.

I'm still very excited about this game.

I believe I remember hearing that what we saw during the March 29th gameplay reveal was an early version. If you watch the IGN First 20 minutes of gameplay video a lot of things have been fixed. The reason why they showed development builds is because they are most likely fixing the game even as people sit around and make posts like this. They most likely want people to see the progress. Polish is just a term game devs use. It means they are still working on the game. Most of the major stuff is done so they are now working on the details.

The problem with these types of games and consoles is that the controller doesn't allow for precision placement. It's why console FPS or any shooting game on consoles will have auto-aim. Some times it-s optional and some times it's not. Decorations means the game would be like Planet Coaster, it would be about building a beautiful park, the park of your dreams. The people that would want to do this also want precision which you can't achieve with a console controller. I am sure there will be some things to put in the parks but don't expect Planet Coaster levels of customization and decorations. That is one of the down sides of the game also being on consoles, simplification. This is one of the things that made JPOG so bad, over simplification for consoles at the time. Theme Park was basically a 2D isometric game. This is a game in a fully 3D world. You couldn't get the level of precision in that you would want or need in this game, and a controller just can't do it well.

As far as the AI is concerned I think people are expecting way too much. They have unrealistic expectations and this is their fault and not frontiers. They should keep in mind that this is a game. Trying to add all that AI and every little variable would probably be a huge task. This is a game and not a Dinosaur documentary. A game based on books and movies that were science fiction. In the video with the Spino you could clearly see the Hadrosaur was running. I am sure the AI will be fine in the launch game.

While I don't disagree with the main point, it should be noted that people are putting just as much energy into finding nits to pick.

While I do hope to see the animal behavior go beyond turn-fights, we also don't have much to go on. For the social behavior, I don't know many videos that really looked for that: has there been a video with someone making a flock of eight 'mimuses, then following them around to see what they do? I've seen one clip of three chatting, but one 30-second clip is not enough to say "that's all there is." Are there any demos that try to make flocks? I would honestly like to see that!

Yes, the turn-based fight between big carnivores gets awkward. But AI is more than that: do we know about post-fight? Does the loser now avoid the winner? Do they set up an alpha-female type of hierarchy in a pack? If the Beta makes a kill, would the Alpha come and take it? That would be cool AI. But we don't know. Mentioning concerns about it is fine, but saying that this is Final Proof of Suckage is premature, and starts to get tiresome by the third time.

Now if the same points can be made after the game has been out for a few weeks, then it sounds a bit more legit. I'm willing to Wait and See before making up my mind

PS: I couldn't care less about cosmetics, but that's a different rant.

It's like everyone forgot about the Triceratops running from the raptors.

Why even make a thread about this? It's ridiculous. Next thing we see is threads about how some are too negative on the game. Pointless.

But the fact we haven't vseen ONE placeable decoration in the screenshots and videos is worrying. They're not in game. Otherwise Frontier would have shown their main Street looking as good as possible with fountains, benches, signs etc.

Boy will you be happy when you're right about this once the game is out, right? I can already see your comments about it. I know it's not true, but the impression I'm getting from this is that you would rather not have it in there just to be proven right.

Think we have a No Man's Sky situation-- mediocre release which becomes great 6 months down the line.

I love how you're complaining about people being overly defensive (in that sense positive) about the game, yet you're the exact opposite. But that's fine though, isn't it? I mean, this is coming from someone who started a thread about the game going to be a ''monumental let down''.

I kinda agree. Really exited and worried at the same time. BUT i have faith in them. The thing that i'm worried about the most is that, for a park managment game, they showed very little park managment. We still need to see how tourists act, how weather works, what decorations and buildings are there (we saw some screenshot of buildings just some days ago), what rides can tourists take, what can you do on Nublar and Sorna and more.
Of course i have faith in them and the game looks great, and i don't want them to spoil the entire game. But there are a lot of unanswered questions

Most of the people scared that the game won't be good are taking into account dev builds and only that.

They are ignoring how Frontier just doesn't release a game to let it rot afterwards : Elite is going strong for 4 years now, Planet Coaster still has updates one year after release. There's no reason to think JWE will be treated differently by Frontier.

If they are disappointed then they are to blame cause they have unrealistic expectations for a game and they hyped themselves up on speculation.
