People on low end rigs... I suggest you try disabling low persistence mode.

I 1st started playing in Beta 3 and noticed my performance seemed much smoother...... Last night I was playing a bit more and noticed some blurring, and it turned out I was in 60hz (non - low persistence)

on putting to 75, in stations it stuttered badly so I am back at 60hz.......

So my thoughts are, to anyone stuttering in busy areas ESP if they have a low end VR rig (I have GTX670 which I consider minimum spec for VR) then give 60hz a try..... what you lose in terms of persistence and a little blurring, you gain in a much smoother experience over all imo.

I managed around 3hrs with very little stuttering, and no nausea etc.

Sure, 75hz is potentially much better, but if your rig cant manage the frame rate, it is a lesser experience imo.

The stutters and freezes are not necessarily factor of the framerate.
I get stutters and freezes up to 1-2 sec in beta 3.02 now when I only had micro-stutters near planets in previous versions.
When the freezes occur the framerate still shows 60 FPS. So the real problem stems from elsewhere.

my Specs:

Alienware Aurora-R4
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz (12 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
16384MB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
DirectX 11
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 (with dual integrated GPU incard SLI @ 2 x 2002 MB)

Ehm I don't want to tell you but if you disable low persistence you get the blurry effect. Thanks to Low persistan that you can play with such low FPS but with small movements the low persistence can create juddering.

If you do everything right with your configuration you can't change HZ ingame.

Hi

Sorry.... This could be me being dumb but I do not understand what you are saying, or should I say, if I am understanding what you are saying you are not making sense to me ;)...

I KNOW low persistence is there to remove bluring and to offer a better system and when it works, it is excellent.

but to me a bit of blur is much less jarring than a jumpy framerate, and with low peristence off it is still ok - like a high res DK1 with full motion tracking but with it on it is nasty at times..

Now as for why I get the option to pick my refresh rate, I do not know, however given that my settings give me more flexibility than others, I am not sure why you seem to think I am doing it wrong (unless I am missunderstanding you) but if that is the case then, doing it wrong seems better to me as it means more options :)

unfortunately for now my hardware does not seem strong enough to do 75fps even on low detail, once the area gets busy such as asteroids of in a station, but it can manage 60.

I have 100+ apps running in VR, some in direct, some in extended, and most attempting to run at 75fps......

If it works for you, never mind, I might give it a try. Even if it never come to my mind to reduce the Hz, But I have to do that from the Nvidia C Panel.
Now once home, lets see what 3.03 will do.

That is so odd. I wonder mine is unlocked then?

Simple, your card is set at 60, once is set that way you can select 60 72 75 from the game also if it's red. Tried and yes it becomes all blurry o better shadowing.
Back to 75 with settings in the card to 75, much more better for me.

Problem now is the beta 3.03, 3.02 was perfect!!!!!!!!! :-(

Tried it too, but as soon as I set the DK2 to 60Hz in the NVIDIA CC, the picture becomes all super bright and ugly... I also can't set it in game, by the way.
