people playing with gamepad needs a virtual keyboard for galaxy map to type a system

Hello FD & all ! ;)

it should be really appreciated if devs include a virtual keyboard (like the one in windows) to type search a system in galaxy map.

actually i play with a xone gamepad on my canapé (sofa) and on a 42" HDTV, and to type search i must go to my computer keyboard to type, really annoying to appreciate the game. :(

sometimes i use a VNC server and with my iphone i connect to it by VNC and type text on it, but it's not good and not cunfurtable (sry my french...).

I will really appreciate a virtual keyboard, so can u make it devs please ? :eek:

Have to say I tend to keep my Keyboard and Mouse next to me still; Wireless (like the Desktop Series 7000 is lightweight and comfortable on your lap).
Although it would be nice to have a Virtual Keyboard for pure Controller play, or perhaps an App for my Phone (Windows, but Android / iOS is probably simple too) that ties into the game so it'll display the Left-Right side displays with a finger swipe and you can access the whole market via just the phone. That'd be pretty sweet, heck I'd probably get a Phone Caddy created so it'll clip where the Chatpad normally goes if they did that.

Something I will say I've been having trouble with concerning the Controller is if you have Multiple things assigned to a binding; so say for example X + Right Trigger (Shield Cell is what I have this as), each time I press that it pops the Cell; but ALSO will fire my Primary Weapons. This is annoying in of itself, but the worst is as the majority of stuff is assigned to a Face Button (X, Y, A, B) + D-Pad but the standard D-Pad (without Button) redistributes power; anytime I do something like Select Next Target (Y + D-Left, which is default) it also assigns Power to Sys.

This can get extremely annoying when I'm in the middle of a fight, and suddenly my weapons lose power because I've just accidentally assigned all power to Sys or Eng.

for my part, i reassigned almost all buttons for my gamepad (xbox one.. = x360..).

i have B and Y button as "shift" commands :

B + dpad up = thottle (strafe?) up
B + dpad down = thotle (strafe..) down
Y + dpad up = use deploy cargo scoop (?)
Y + dpad down = "deploy gears to dock"
A = deploy weapons
B + dpad right = next groups weapon
B + dpad left = previous one
Y + dpad left = zoom out radar
...

it is really cunfurtable if u take the time to make yours propers (personnal) assignements.... FD worked very well on this : all is almost assignable :cool:

for your windows phone, check in windows store if there is not an app called "VNC" something..

on ios i got "VNC viewer" & "mocha VNC" : i can connect on my PC VNC server ("tightVNC"), a free app to use your comp with your phone... (lol, don't expect to play elite or no "borderless" games on your phone screen thoo...)

have to say it works very well...

but i would like DEVS get an attention for this : (im not coder, im musician...) but i know this is not hard to do.

EDIT: it would be almost easy 2 to make ED cross-platform (PC/OS X, XOne , PS4) with all those key/buttons assignements ! for now i would liked a virtual keyboard..

i simply just not had touched my mouse nor my PC keyboard since 2010....
