People quitting PP?

PP definitely caused some great tension in several well-known syndicates. These well known syndicates have most likely been around for a good while, people are burned out and had great, perhaps unrealistic expectations from PP. Thus, people quit/group quit/fell apart.

It's poorly designed - gave it a fair chance to see if I maybe overlooked something (given it's so convoluted and counter-intuitive even FD themselves often don't seem to have a clue what's going on, chances were pretty high).

Turned out my initial idea of touring the powers whose modules I was interested in and then let it rest was right.

I like the Power Play idea and the implementation makes sense to me, partly. But I wonder if it could be better integrated with the missions system so that the merit rewards were accompanied by a monetary one as well. And it seems odd to have the two mission systems run in parallel but generally separate from each other. It's a bit of a disjointed feeling, really.

Anyway, I've been away exploring for a while now, so the excitement back in populated space is of no concern to me (for now).

:D

Our extended group (5 separate groups under one banner) got dragged into Powerplay because one of our core systems was being prepped by a Power and we contested it, then expanded it to a Control System, to ensure it remained ours. Now we've fortified it and we hated every minute. we were quite happy influencing systems (52 out of 92) with a core bubble of 8 systems (all 8 majority influence with 7 controlled) using just the background simulation. we built that bubble of space and yes we're damned proud of the achievement. When it all came under threat, we responded.

It would have been better to have permitted player groups to carve out their niche area of what is a huge galaxy in an official way instead of the hybrid way it's had to be done. At any moment that hard work can be ruined, not by other players influencing a system but by other players using Powerplay. Many systems trade routes have been gutted because of Powerplay and for those of us who stuck to the background simulation, our collective efforts are rewarded with a broken simulation and a pathetic excuse of an add-on to what is by far the best space sim created that has removed a lot of the fun from the game.

Basicaly some people wanted guilds and the ability to Build there own little empires they did not get this so they where unhappy.

Merits should be awarded for doing missions that improve the influence off minor factions that are alligned to the Powers.
Power play could have been incredibly fun if implented sensible.

The current system is one big demotivation engine.

When you see how easily malicous players can mess up a Power by prepping and ekspand into bad systems.
Even getting the same merits and benefits as players trying to help the power.

Actually the best thing i could do for my Power, are to defect to another Power and undermine the bad controlsystems my Power has got.
Only way to get rid of these.

Ohh but wait they placed them very close to HQ, so it takes a gazillion undermining to get them undermined.

I just cant be bothered anymore.
I only do Powerplay to get some fast CR, by keeping my rank 5 for a few more weeks.

Yep, I'm "Leaving" PP after receiving my last 50mill voucher.

I've been playing it since it was released to the public and hated it after the first week.

It could win awards for being so bad.

OP - do a quick search and you'll see that PowerPlay is a topic that divides the forum. Some like it. Some dislike it. But honestly, I don't think we need another thread on this topic which has been rehashed a gazillion times in the past several weeks.

MHO... while it remains a part of the game it is a legitimate topic of conversation.

I got really tired of the grindfest that powerplay is, seems completely boring to me, if there was some kind of way to actually communicate with your faction that would make it more interesting but having to use 3rd party software like teamspeak to actually feel like im in a faction makes the entire Power Play affair seem like a pointless addition to the game right now.

I like being pledged to Aisling but my merit collecting days are over. I will never again get a merit. I'm sure there are a lot of players like me pledged but not playing.

I played PP from launch and I'm done for the time being. I loved the connection I made with other players, and the planning and strategy we did. However, the lack of clear rules and the limited communication options provided in game were very frustrating. The ALD 1st to 10th and back to 2nd fiasco was the final straw. I'm disappointed FD didn't do more testing and simulations.

So, I picked up a new copy with the current Steam sale and my PP CMDR went on vacation. Now, running around doing Community Goals, Rare Trading and all the other things that PP limited me from doing and seems to have been overshadowed in the Galnet Newsfeed by PP Player created content.
