Performance issues fixed with new Nvidia Drivers and Oculus Runtime 1.3

After installing the new Nvidia VR driver release today along with the just released Oculus 1.3 Runtime the performance issues I had with my DK2 and a GTX970 have gone!

This was when near terrain / on planetary surfaces. I can now have Terrain Quality on Ultra and the judder has gone!

Really? Wow can't wait to go home tonight and upgrade nvidia drivers and oc runtime. I use GTX970 too.

Makes sense. We'll finally have Direct Mode with the Oculus.

I'm really curious to see how well the HTC Vive works when it hits. The lack of Async Time Warp may be an issue.

Seeing the same this update has fixed all my frame Rate issues. Was running VR High, I landed on a planet and set Shadows to Ultra and its still buttery smooth. Running a GTX 970 also :)

980ti... Set everything to ultra and am harvesting barnacles on Merope with the smoothest experience so far! Cant wait until the rift arrives, though the dk2 is now more than sufficient!

Today is a huge step forward!

I have a 980ti as well, upgraded from a 970 purely for a better DK2 experience. This sounds absolutely fabulous and I can't wait to try it out when I finish work too!

I'm used to using 0.5 runtime, 1.5ss and a blue HUD. I had terrible judder on planets so I hope this will still look as good with the better framerate (and perhaps a chance to go back to orange?)

It is amazing huh? I have everything set to ultra, including shadows. Only thing I haven't tried is Ambient occlusion. That used to tip things over the edge for me

Wow.

I don't post much, but I feel like doing so today.

My rig is the following : DK2, windows 7 64 bits, i7 2.7 gHz, GTX 970 (msi gaming OC), 10 go RAM.

Also using the latest nvidia 'VR optimised' drivers which came out today.

This is by far the smoothest experience I had with Elite. I am flying over the surface of a planet with High settings, even some set to ultra.

I'm achieving an average of 50 FPS (40 ~60) but the experience is almost completely judder free !!

I guess it must be the Asynchronous Timewarp (ATW) that is doing miracles.

Well done Oculus & Frontier !!

PS : do we know if the vive has (or will have) something like the ATW ?? 'Cause this looks like a game changer.

Well, except for bleeding blacks it feels like christmas. With Lightning 980ti everything now on ultra, 2xSS and solid 75fps so far. Only hints of judder is on arrival to planetside starports, which has always been there. Im impressed.

Also, tracking accuracy and sense of scale are noticeably better.

Oculus isn't doing good marketing. With my DK2 performing on this level, I will skip the CV1 and look forward to the next gen. Oculus, HTC or OSVR? Who knows...

My initial thoughts as well when I fired up DK2 in 1.3... WOW, see my thread. But the CV1 will be nice and the wait will not be so long now with the awesome DK2.

I just wish they would come up with a consistent definition of "VR ready".

I've got Steam and Nvidia telling me that my system is VR ready, and I've got Oculus telling me that it's not :(

I had a quick blast at lunchtime, very impressed so far, will have a proper go after work.
