Performance of Epic vs. FDev standalone?

Has anyone else noticed a marked difference in performance if you have both? I play on an Alienware R15 and it has handled Odyssey mostly OK post Update 12...but that's playing on my main account, using the FDev standalone launcher. Playing through the Epic store account, with the same graphical settings, the game is rough...consistent micro freezes and never getting above 40fps. While it's certainly not "unplayable." It's rough. Like, annoyingly bad compared to playing on the FDev standalone.

Any ideas as to why?

I take it these are 2 different installs , not just the same install but logging into different accounts? if so then maybe try deleting your gpu worktable in the game folder and also deleting graphics folder see what happens . if it still doesn't improve then something else is happening and you have to post a support ticket

Correct, two different installs.

New to PC gaming, so forgive the question but, what's a "gpu worktable?"

good stuff , also under C:\Users\'your user name here' \AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics
you can delete that folder the game will regenerate the files automatically afterwards might also help , but I believe these files are shared between epic / steam and frontier direct so probably wont do much

That's seems to have done the job...back to smooth 60 fps. Weird.

it forces the game and gpu to rebuild the shader cache which can sometimes become corrupted , but glad to hear it all worked out
