LostWinds Performance on iPad 2

Amazing game, very immersive.

Winter of Melodias is my first contact with the series. I saw some YouTube videos of the Wii version and something is bothering me.

It looks much better on Wii. iPad 2 is a powerful device but it's not providing the same experience. Buttons and fonts are ugly, framerate is terrible.

I hope it gets better when I get the New iPad, but I wish to see it better on my current one. Please make fixes and improvements.

The game is design to scale depending on what platform it is being run on, so it will look better on iPad 3 than on iPad 2.

Have you tried forcing all of the apps closed (not just LostWinds) and then restarting the game? There isn't any excessive issues with slowdown known on iPad2, but you could be running low on memory.

Is the slowdown occuring in specific areas, or just generally?

It occurs everytime, like the game is running in slowmo.

Hope I can achieve the same performance of Wii version, because I'm loving this game.

Is it whenever you try doing a wind power, like gusting Toku? If so, try going into the game options and set the Gust Time to Off, or a lower value.

No, no. It's a full time very low framerate. No matter what I do, it's like slow motion.

5.1.1. I restarted my iPad a few minutes ago, closed all stuff, and the problem persists.

I don't know what to do. It seems I will only fully enjoy the game when I get the New iPad.

Michael, thanks for the support. I love this game and for me it's near perfection. It reminds me playing Nintendo games, like Zelda and Metroid.

I noticed two additional things, but I don't know if there's any relation. First, I'm Brazilian and I bought the game in our App Store. The second is that the icon looks like from Lost Winds 1, it's not like the one shown in the App Store.

Also very strange, it shouldn't matter that you've bought it from the Brazilian app store. If you're not too fa into the game, can you try deleting the game from your iPad and then redownload and install it. Maybe it was a duff install.

I've updated my own iPad 2 to 5.1.1 and the frame rate seems fine, so I don't think the update is the cause.

I updated before I bought the game.

Well, I removed, rebooted, installed again directly from the iPad, and the problem persists. When the game was downloading the new icon appeared, but after installation, the old icon appeared again.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, I can't think of any reason why a different app store would change the icon. Or more importantly why you would be getting a poorer frame rate? Do you have the original game installed?

I don't know what to do too. I don't have the original game.

Nothing makes the game feel normal. About the installation, I deleted and downloaded it again directly from the iPad.

I tested on my iPhone 4 and the overall performance looks the same. Strange to me if you compare two different generations chips. The only difference is the visual, which looks better on a retina.

Analyzing this I deduct I will get a much greater experience on the New iPad, with new chip and retina.

I wish this port had the same performance and experience as the Wii version.

Cara, eu baixei o meu na AppStore brasileira, e uso o iPad 2 com o 5.0.1, e pra mim funciona super bem! Eu sei que é chato, mas tenta dar um restore no ipad.

Dude, i downloaded mine on the brazilian appstore too, and i use a ipad 2 with 5.0.1, and it works fine for me! I know it sucks, but try restoring your iPad.
