Performance Tuning/Settings for latest build?

I have an i8700k cpu, 16 gig RAM, and a 1070i gpu.

I used to run the game on "Custom," settings that were a cross between "High & Ultra."

I've had to detune to medium with Odyssey. Not too happy with that but I hope additional optimization passes will alleviate things.

When I'm landing in an Orbital the closer I get to the pad (FA-Off) it becomes readily apparent I'm taking a performance hit because everything looks to be shaking like Jello.

Does anyone have any tips? Perhaps a thread addresses this already?

Prayer setting to x1.5 and hope Brabus hears you.

Performance is quite varied between people with some bordering on OK while others have wildly inconsistent fps. While EDO is heading in the right direction I think its a case of grinning and bearing it because no setting bar dialling it all down will work (and even then its.....variable :D )

I've played around quite a bit with settings and find I get the best results using FXAA - X1.0 and upscaling set to Normal

One of the biggest performance impacts has been Ambient Occlusion - setting that to Low or even Off might be helpful, but Medium seems to be a good compromise if it doesn't impact framerate too much.

HTH - YMMV

I'm on an AMD Ryzen 5900X and an ASUS TUF 3090 so I'm getting good results almost everywhere, but even the 3090 will drop from 120FPS down to 60FPS at a settlement, but certainly playable.

I had been running EDO on a 980Ti before I upgraded and still was getting "reasonable" results, but I didn't spend much time at settlements with that card, but I was running quite well at 60FPS under most conditions in EDO, sometimes dropping down to 45 or so briefly when entering a station.

There doesn't seem to be any "magic bullet" so far as hardware and individual systems are getting a wide variance of performance reported.

This isn't to slight you, but I feel like people who own 3090's shouldn't really be the judges on whether or not Odyssey performance is ok or not, as a 3090 is literally the fastest GPU on the market and is specifically designed for 4K gaming, so it's beyond overkill for this game and can brute force its way through any optimization issues.

Never mind that it's impossible to even find such a card in this economy...
