Powerplay Perhaps noobish question

Ok so I just started with powerplay. At first I had no intention of joining since I didnt like the cargo generation system. 15 every 30 min? no thanks. But then i got interested a bit more into Powerplay and I found out I can undermine. So yesterday I got into it and I was amazed how much merits can I make. Suddenly I got really interested in powerplay and getting max rank with Patreus.

But here is my question. If i could make 1k merrits in a couple of hours, why I can make only sooo little with fortifying the systems? ... I mean 15 every 30 minutes? That is super low. In those 30 Minutes I can kill bunch of ships for hundreds of merits. Now Im not talking about increasing the cargo generation I know you could fortify very easily then, but only to increase the rewards for delivering the cargo which would only benefit to individual more not to faction.

This could also make trading guys more interested into powerplay without buying combat ship to undermine.

So am i Missing something? Im kinda newbie in powerplay.

It's a question that's had a lot of us shrugging our shoulders in bewilderment. I only carried out the messenger boy missions on my first day pledged to a power. After that I switched over to undermining because I found it much more fun and... lucrative.

They are playing around with the balance, and right now undermining is very powerful.

Originally the ratings were % based, not hard numbers.
To get to rating 3 you needed to be in the top 50% of contributors in your Power for that week.
Rating 4 was the top 10% I think, and Rating 5 was just the top 10 players in that power.

There was a big backlash during the beta, mostly from players who admitted they don't like PP and wouldn't play it anyway, and it was changes to the current system.

You also lost 100% of your merits each week, like a community goal.

And there was no weekly salary.

Now you get 50 million cr per week for getting 5667 merits, or 189 undermining ships killed each week.

Originally you earned 15 merits per undermining kill, and the forification triggers were 5 times smaller.
That meant everywhere could be fortified.

FD want a more dynamic PP week, where powers lose and gain systems. Fortification was made 5 times more difficult, and undermining was made twice as lucrative.

Fortifying and undermining are not balanced between how many merits you earn, because there are many dedicated players who fortify to help their Power, not just play to get the 50 million cr bonus each week.

Hmm now Im kinda happy after these changes. I would definitely not play if I would have to compete with my OWN power to be in 10% of ppl to get max rank.
Half merits lost after a week is nice, you still have to do at least some hours of playing each week to keep rank. Thats nice.
Now they just need to polish rewards, Im really reluctant to fortify right now. Its just time-eater for me. Maybe later, I will care more about my power, but not right now where I hunt profits to get what I want.

Well, we just have to wait. :) I certainly hope they wont nerf rewards from undermining. Cuz now its nicely balanced in NON grind zone. At least thats how I feel.

not top 10%, top 10.
Only 10 players per power per week originally got the rating 5 bonus, which meant it didn't really matter if it was OP, but at the moment there are a massive number of rating 5 players, so the bonuses really need to be looked at and balanced.

Well, I'm also new to PP.

My secret masterplan about fortification goes like this:
1. Get to rating 5. (10k + wait a round flip)
2. Make money. Loads of it.
3. Buy a T9, 500t space
4. Fast track PP cargo: 10 times 50.

Now I think fast tracking is 100k.... Faintly remember reading this somewhere. If that's true then for 10m I can single-handedly fortify a system with just 10 trips - shouldn't take too long. Also that is about the number of merits needed to keep the rank, so looks good to me.

At step two atm, and yes, the 100% bounty bonus is just sick.

Fast tracking isn't 100k, its 100k for 10T.
It costs 500k for 50T, so it doesn't get any cheaper.
Rushing 5000T will cost you the full 50 million cr
