Peripheral distortion on multi monitor systems and other strange anomalies.
I did a thread search and only came up with one covering "windowed game mode" so I apologize if this has already been hashed out.
Regarding the side monitors in multi monitor systems: I understand the desire to try and simulate the distortion in those side monitors (i.e. objects elongated to try and simulate speed or canopy distortion or, whatever) that occurs from objects in the peripheral of real vision but, why? Giving that those monitors ARE in your peripheral, the effect happens naturally. Not to mention if you do turn your head to look out a side window, you are now forced to perceive the image as simulated "peripheral" when it is anything but. If they are trying to prepare for Oculus Rift implementation, the same argument holds true. So again, why? I have yet so see another game flight sim that does this, let alone any real certified sim. Not that this needs to be "real" just, it is annoying looking out a side window only to see an image from an amusement park funny mirror.
Also, another discussion loosely on the same theme: The star field, why? I understand the need to try and simulate the perception of speed, especially when the perception of relatively motion is greatly needed while flying near other objects but, with the very clever invention of those speed" bars" in the HUD covering all axis of flight, I think the star field is obsolete. Not to mention it makes acquiring outside objects a chore, it can drive one nuts with those whizzing stars greatly increasing the amount of visual noise in your peripheral and, its just not realistic.
Any one else with thoughts on this?
Amazing game nonetheless, cant stop playing it even with the great limits in this early stage
