Persecuted Heroes (Space Dustman)

Space full of junk and trash. Every cargo jettison into space, every destroyed ship makes the already dirty space even more unbearable. We need heroes who have a mission to clean the space. These heroes will turn space into a clean and livable place for us again, regardless of being called dustman! 🥺

Well, besides all these facts, can someone explain to me why Space Salvaging is illegal? Instead of rewarding those heroes who are trying to collect the remains of a ship that they didn't shoot, why do we attribute them as guilty? 🤨

Make space dustman a legal career (and profitable)!

One thing I find out irritating, say I'm blasting bad pirates in hazres, and collecting mats with my limpets. Sometimes limpets collect cargo, and that is marked as stolen. Okay maybe pirates had stolen it originally, but from my point view all I'm doing is legal salvage and should be compensated not fined when I bring it back. As things are now, I need to check cargo space and eject all "stolen" stuff before going up to station to rearm. (Smugling it in does not pay out enough to be worth the hassle...)

After recently finishing the Planetes manga and now watching the anime, I'd be up for some space debris collection.

In the past I've had a handful of recovery missions where the canisters were in low orbit and falling towards the surface (which made scooping them a bit more interesting than normal), so perhaps missions like that?

Make space bin men a career for EVA!

In my opinion, all cargo found should be threated like escape pods. It's legal to salvage it, but it could be delivered only to Search and Rescue Agents. The reward should be the average galaxy price.

The only exeption to this should be cargo obtained from hatch breaking or destroying a ship, and for that ship only. In that case, cargo stolen, can be sold only to black markets as it is today.

Sounds like a problem from a developer point of view, however.

Well for cargo from destroyed ships I think difference should be made for legally destroyed ships. Like bounty hunter destroying wanted ship....

I've read Planetes too and as you i've liked it A LOT. I think that Fdev should read it too, it could help them a lot to insert gameplay activities for space legs.

the biggest problem I have with this is that if you've already been scanned by an authority ship and scoop a stolen container, the cops somehow know and fine you immediately even if they don't scan you again.

I'd love that to be legal, it would make helping those poor traders with disabled drives so much easier. Especially when they accidentally spill their cargo all over the place because of malfunctions of the cargo hold.
