Who else has made a screenshot of a commodities market in order to be able to have a look at it while docked somewhere else? Who else has written down numbers that although they do not reflect potential changes in the markets, at least gave you an idea what type of stuff a station buys and sells? Who else has been surprised by a high tech station not producing that one good you were dead sure you had seen them sell in large quantities, only to realize you mixed up with a station in a neighbouring system?
I hereby propose a solution to these problems that does not involve notions of FTL communication or omniscience over distant markets:
When you dock at a station that has a commodities market, the game automatically creates a permanent snapshot of that market for you (in your savegame on the server). You can access this snapshot at any time, from anywhere, through consulting the system map (by clicking on a station), and by selecting that station in the last column of another station's commodities market, so that instead of "imported from"/"exported to" it shows the price as per the snapshot.
The snapshot can be updated by docking with that station, and by purchasing trade data through the galaxy map.
