personal freighters?

any one else like the idea of having a personal freighter? gaint cargo ship that acts like a mobile garage for your ships. you can change your outfitting and move your ships around. it can't land at a stations or outposts, you have to fly your ship and land it on the freighter cause it's that big. it's always in supercruise untill you tell it drop out when ever you want. you can use it to refule, restock, repair. it has a long 1-3hr cooldown when you tell it drop out and it can only drop out of supercruise in empty space near suns, planets near the safe drop out for stations. players can pull it out supercruise and blow it up. it will be really expensive and have long cool downs after you use it. it can not fight other ships. to keep it balanced but i really like the idea of this
 
Sounds like a terrible idea to me having something you can't see or defend be destroyed and cost you a ton of money.
Cue all the "Someone killed my freighter but instancing prevented me defending it" support tickets.

Also it kinda defeats all the game concepts by allowing you to effectively "summon" a station anywhere.

Loose canopy - No problem, even E rated life support is long enough to summon a freighter to dock and repair at.
Ran out of ammo - No fear, don't have to change system evading interdictions, just summon the freighter.
Ran out of fuel - No fuel rats, just summon the freighter and dock.
Exploring long distance - Act like a turtle and summon your ship.

The 1-3hr cooldown goes someway to stopping the 2nd point but I still think its something that would detract more than it adds. I'm much more on board with the idea of the customisable personal asteroid bases that FDev said they wanted to add.
 
I like the idea of having some sort of personal space that you can customise and hang out at (something like a personal hangar or base) but I don't like the idea of it being mobile and being able to summon it to wherever you want. It needs to be stationary.

yh, maby freighters should just be a mobile garage without outfitting and restock ect with long cooldowns. freighters with long cool downs makes more sense to me instant ship transfer but i don't see having your own base till FD add the ability to walk around are ships and stations
