My CMDR name is Johnny Cyclops. I'm at my Allied fav station and the station panel, in the middle under the local contact person says "Welcome to the station, Johnny Cyclops. This is a good time to trade, Johnny Cyclops".
I propose a customisable field (or two or three) that CMDRs can update with alternate versions of their name.
An example could be field one is short first name. For me this would be "John" or "Johnny". Field two might be another version for use with the CMDR tag, so for me would be "Cyclops". Field three might be a nickname, etc.
So the above message, using field two first, and then field one, might instead read "Welcome to the station, CMDR Cyclops. This is a good time to trade, John".
Some insightful intelligence in scripting between ally and enemy stations would be useful, so an enemy station would never just use my first name, but an allied or friendly station might.
All this would only apply to station information, and not to general flying, and thus not be visible to other CMDRs. I know there will be concerne that user input text fields can be abused, but surely that's the same now with ship names.
I see quite a few CMDRs fly with "WIDGET1234", type alpha-numerics, and might prefer to see "Hello again, Sam", rather than "Hello again, WIDGET1234".
