Pet project to expand the inhabited universe.

Ok Guys n Gals.

What would happen if I went to one of the furthest inhabited systems and started mollycoddling it? Dump so much good stuff there that their economy improves vastly (Can one person alone do this?)
Now, I know its probably not implemented yet (Expansion) but at least when it is, the system in question will be good to go. Id like to choose a place that is a nice stepping stone. Plenty of pristine metallic, metal rich systems around it, and on the way to somewhere interesting (Pulsar/Galactic core/Nebula etc...) And of course plenty of earth like worlds around.

So id like some advice. Where do we want to expand to? What direction? To what aim? Is it possible? Should it be a group effort?

We will need scouts! :D

I remember a thread a while ago where a group tried to do this but the system didn't seem to react. I would imagine that they are holding off with this ability until they get further into the games main story-line.

Also I've spent several days at a distant system running trade missions but it doesn't seem to be growing or increasing reputation with me that much. I'm not sure if fighting missions give more reputation but dumping resources doesn't seem to have much of an effect with myself alone.

Would be nice to see and I can't wait for this to be fully implemented into the game. :D

It's takes time and a lot of cash flowing through the station.
Quickest way I found is to buy a large ship (Asp and above) as that's a big transaction and can turn the economy into a Boom one.

Every system with a port will/should have a faction. Also almost every (if not every) system will have more than one faction. Doing different missions will raise your standing with the different factions so there are multiple ways to manipulate systems.

At the moment expansion only works between two already inhabited systems. Dev said that for the moment they are keeping control if/when a faction expands to a system that is uninhabited.

Not sure that they have enabled features that allow expansion into uninhabited systems / building of new stations yet.

No Michael confirmed in one of the 'persistant Universe' test threads that new statation and expansion into uninhabitated systems is currently purely FD generated. But a faction will expand into an already inhabited system if you manage to get them into the 'expansion' state.

Watch for bugs though.

In another thread, someone mentioned that player built stations were something FD have said will never happen :(

Only existing factions will expand into new systems once you raise their standing to a suitable level. Players can help build the station by taking missions to protect is and send resources etc but I don't think that's what the author was asking.

I think this is still buggy as somebody a few weeks ago did band together a few CMDRs to try this however once they hit expansion state they didn't actually progress into another system.

I believe some Polish players are working on CANOPUS and EXPHIAY. These two systems are outside the main area of civilised space, but are close to each other. The players over there now are building up one system's faction as it expands into the second.
