Good evening Commanders ô7

We're at a turning point in the Unknown Artefact mystery. We could potentially find something in the 2.0 beta before anyone else has a chance. However, If we don't try, some one else with beta access will. So, here we sit. At a crossroads.

How many of you feel that frontier should leave ALL story out of beta builds?

This counts for UA story or any other story. Let's get some votes, and maybe we can make a difference in time for the 2.0 beta. If not, let's hope they implement this in the future!

Cheers, commanders

So far as it's possible, anyway. Kinda hard to beta-test thargoid weapon shaders, for example, without implementing them. But stuff like the UAs should be placeholder content, definitely.

They always have, have they not? The story events seem to have always been disabled or heavily restricted for testing purposes.

Currently UA story doesn´t effect those who don´t want to take part of it, so that kind of stuff shouldn´t be in beta. But if they implement something what effects everyone like thargoid npc/player ships, weapowns, missions yms then those should be in the beta test so those would work on release day. We didn´t get to test powerplay mechanics in beta, because beta for 1.3 was so short. How many times has the frontier changed something about/in powerplay mechanics? Would you like to see same kind of stuff with thargoids?

Ummm... Wait - there's a story here? Isn't the standard line from the forum regulars all about "imagination", "sandbox", "being insignificant" and "doing your own thing"?

Yeah, being insignificant, immersed in a sandbox doing my own thing, and there's a story about ET's mobile phoning home.

Is there a contradiction I'm missing here? :)

It should be the case, i've never heard any one discovering anything in a BETA.

seems to me they disable all story content, or it has not been injected yet into the game yet, either way im pretty sure it aint there

We discovered that it points to Merope in the 1.4 beta

Things are certainly found in beta. No doubt about that.

The contradiction is using the word "story" with E D! :)

There really isn't much of a story or plot being revealed or progressing here. There's a lot of random events, posts and what-not but, really, whatever happened to when this game kicked off with the sick and ailing Emperor? Nothing. Whatever happened with the big three powers and hyped up threats of battles? Nothing. What happened the last time artifacts were found? Nothing (and there was nothing else in the game aside from the UA according to the devs - and even the devs were surprised by the community latching onto this single element). What happened to the missing ship and VP or whoever she was? Nothing. Really have a hard time seeing a story in this game. And not saying this is good or bad.

To the OP: what story elements are you expecting to see in 1.5?

Yes indeed, the 1.4 beta UA behaviour discovery was surely disappointing for all the non beta tinfoil hats searchers (i'm neither non beta nor tinfoil hat searcher, but I think it was a bad move from FD)

I don't care, as this is something that is typically NOT done in beta testing, if there's a story element, it needs to be tested as well you know. Asking for that to be disabled in the beta simply so YOU can't be beaten by someone else in discovering it...really? Seems a bit selfish to me, after all, story elements do need to be tested or they may not work at all or may work in a manner not meant.

Story ... in ... Elite ... Dangerous?

I know what all of these words mean separately but they seem nonsensical put into a sentence like that. Please restate the poll in a grammatically correct form.
