Petting Zoo Pack

I know this has been discussed before, but I actually have a specific list of farm/domestic animals that would be great for demonstrating rare/ heritage breeds, and a few related Enrichment items and a scenario to go with it:
-Dexter Cattle
-Jacob Sheep
-Toggenburg Goat
-Black Iberian pig
-Shetland Pony and/or Miniature Donkey
-Zebu
-Chantecler Chicken
-Guinea Pig (Exhibit Animal)
New Enrichment:
-Treat Dispenser (brings in money like a donation bin, and is a food enrichment and rare exception to guests not feeding animals)
- 2-ft Hurdle (Toy enrichment, allows equine and sheep/goats a designated fence to jump over)
-Bristle-Brush Scratching Post (works just like the regular/tree scratching post, but is comprised of broom heads attached to a post. good for animals with thick fur/wool)

New Scenery Pieces:
Farm Theme (Includes several scenery pieces and a unique guest service: The Hand-Washing Station)

New Scenario: Fair Play:
Set in Columbus, Kansas, your overall objective is to prepare an ambassador group of Farm Animals to be showcased at a County Fair. This will hopefully bring in more guests just with their prescience, but you should do everything you can to make sure your animal (and human) ambassadors are real winners
Objectives:
  • Build a Petting Zoo-style habitat (guests enter and exit via a queue) with a Hand-Washing station
  • Have at least 12 Habitat species in your Zoo
    • Have at Least Five Farm Species
  • Have at least Five Animal Talks in One Year
  • Get a Five-Star Rating on at least 3 Farm Species animals
  • Have At Least 15,000 guests in the Zoo
  • Earn a Yearly Profit of $20,000

You know what? I think you idea is good. But switch it all to farm animals for their basic rigs for modding. Also maybe even able to farm for some meat to feed animals to reduce cost of food.

I don't need a farming pack, but I would be excited for one anyway. I hope there are highland cows. I've seen them in a couple of zoos, and they're super cute. I don't know if they would work in a petting zoo though. Typically, I see miniature donkeys, alpacas, goats, and chickens.

I know most zoos have petting zoo animals, but honestly i hope we don't get a whole DLC of them. There are just so many wild animals that i still prefer over domestic ones.

That said i love highland cows and there are some other cattle breeds that i do find interesting such as ankole watusi, zebus, longhorns... and i also kind of want alpacas.

Also some small animals such as lagomorphs could be cool to have.

  • Cows: Ankole-Watusi // Highland Cattle // Texas Longhorn // Nguni Cattle (What I like most about the Nguni breed of cows is their variety of coat patterns and colors. It seems as if there are no 2 cows with the same coloration)
  • Horses: Mustang // Shetland pony // Appaloosa
  • Goats: Anglo-Nubian // African Pygmy Goat // Arapawa goat (CR)
  • Sheeps: Romanov sheep // Gute sheep (male & female with horns) // Zwartbles’s sheep
  • Pigs: Kunekune // Vietnamese Pot-bellied // Danish Protest Pig (Breeding populations exist in the Berlin Zoological Garden, the Hanover Zoo, the Tierpark Arche Warder near Kiel, in the ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen, in Dalmsdorf (Mecklenburg), Hof Lütjensee, and on the Archehof Blumencron. The Dortmund Zoo and the Tierpark Krüzen house small populations too. At the moment, around 140 specimens are alive worldwide. The German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein supports preservation of the breed for its cultural value.
  • Rabbits: Harlequin // Flemish Giant // Mini Lop
  • Koi fish pond

I'm mostly interested in farm birds. Bring on the chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, pheasants, and emu please! All of our fine fowl friends.

But on the mammal side, I wouldn't say no to a cute little goat, an obviously domestic pig, a donkey, a mini cow, and some little fluffers like Guineapigs and rabbits.

A few more common "domestic" plants like corn, tulips, and dandelions.

Koi pond or actual animated bees would be a dream come true.

One thing people tend to forget when dicussing potential species/breeds for a hypothetical Petting Zoo Pack, is that the highly-requested Dromedary Camel is actually a fully domesticated species. All modern day dromedaries are descendants of fully domesticated stock, meaning there are technically no longer Wild Dromedaries. All this said, the Dromedary Camel would be a perfect inclusion in a Petting Zoo Pack and might even convince some people who are “on the fence” about a pack of all domestic species/breeds to buy it.

Honestly i would not mind a domestic animal pack if it includes something like:
1. Dromedary camel
2. A waterfowl (duck/geese/swan)
3. A cool cow breed (Highlands/Ankole/Zebu/Longhorn)
4. And this last slot could be used for either sheep, goats, equids or pigs. Even other kind of bird like a turkey, or pheasant. OR even better, lagomorphs.
5. Exhibit: Honey Bee Hive

And stables, chicken coops, barns props and fences, etc. as building pieces.

A new petting mechanic for guests in walkthrough hábitats or even ambassador animals displayed by educators... something like that to make it actually cool and give us something new and interesting since the animal options would not be the highlights here...

I would probably buy a pack like that even though i prefer a largar variety of wild animals and other themes for packs, but at least this way the DLC would offer cool things that will improve the game overall.

At first glance, a Petting Zoo Pack wouldn’t seem all that exciting to me either, but if the roster was handled right and some cool new features/mechanics came with it in the accompanying update (like feeding/petting interactions between guests and some walkthrough animals, usable playground equipment, a carousel, etc.), it could have the potential to be a really great one! Plus Frontier could further expand on the “animal management” scenery pieces that we got a sampling of in the recent Conservation Pack (which I loved btw).

Another fun addition that could really draw people in is a new guest ride. We haven’t had any additional ones added through DLC/updates and it’d be great if we could finally get another. Something like a Swan/Duck Paddle Boat would be really useful/fun as they are common in a lot of parks and zoological facilities. It would also make perfect sense for the DLC if they were to introduce our first waterfowl species in the roster too!

(If Frontier wanted, they could even get really creative with it and give us different bird boat species options, such as a tie-in with the already in-game Greater Flamingo!)

Additionally, everything is put in place for a guest animal interaction mechanic in a realky promising way.
Just like with deep diving, we could get a new petting zoo/guest animal interaction mechanic for all the animals in the pack, aswell as one basegame animal in form of the bactrian camel.
In the following updates they could expand this new system to more animals like the lama, fallow deer and maybe even more.
For example guest giraffe interaction Stations are quite common in zoos.
Additionally, they could expand general guest animal interaction in general, with for example guests having an additional want to interact with animals, especally the children, considerably increasing their happyness, or maybe add preferences for guests as an expansion of the favorite animal system making them prioritise different groups of animals like pettable ones, birds, big cats, bears, etc, where they would both get increased happyness for seeing them but also distain if the animals arnt kept well.
But these are just some idears

This would be the only way that I'd buy a pack like this, personally I'm not a fan of the petting zoo pack for planet zoo I prefer wild species than the common domestic animales but this idea it's interesting to me and of course I'd buy if this come to the game, but i still prefer wild species :)

I’m not fussed about interaction with animals and would rather something like a rare/notable breeds domestic animal pack than a petting zoo as such. There’s lots of potential for education there too.

To be honest I think a highland cow, for example, would be a lot more useful than a Sumatran rhino or a saiga but that’s just based on the kind of zoos I generally build.

Same here.

A regular DLC and not an animal pack, with stable props and such, and new interactive mechanics between guest and animals introduce in the base game (and some special features for the pack itself i guess).

Other than that, i still pretty much prefer more variety in wild animals.

TBH in that case i also prefer the highland cow over those two animals (although if possible i would like the three of them lol)

I’ve purchased every pack on the day of release (generally within minutes) and preordered the deluxe game but, TBH, have little interest in domestic animals (with the possible exception of the dromedary) - probably because the zoos I am most familiar with don’t have them (with the exception of Texas longhorns in one). I totally get that, for some people, they’re important additions but, for me, it’s wild animals that define what a zoo is (my least favourite animal so far added is the llama for exactly this reason) a domestic animal pack would very likely be one i’d either skip or wait till it was on sale - unless it had great scenery included.

  1. Highland Cow
  2. Guineafowl
  3. Turkey
  4. Alpaca
  5. Miniature Donkey
  6. KuneKune
  7. Goat (no opinion on which, but fainting might be funny)
  8. Exhibit: Bees
Honorable mentions to waterfowl, which might fit better in another pack, and some sort of funky warm weather cow, such as Zebu or Watusi.
