Petty Audio QoL Suggestion

It would be nice to be able to have finer grain control of the audio mix with respect to volume levels. Specifically the boost sound in some ships (mamba and chieftan come to mind) can be disruptive when, for instance, watching a movie on a second screen. We can already do this with many other aspects of the audio mix, but currently not with elements like the 'boost' sound all by itself etc. (might also be good for streamers?)

I would like to still be able to hear things like prox alarm, temp critical, weapons etc, but minimize or mute the boost sound. There have already been a ton of additions/ways to tweak the audio added and they are great, but more customization would be cool. This is a kinda petty suggestion, but hopefully something that would be reasonably straight forward/minimal dev time impact. (if it was a major task it would not be worth it, and better handled via a 3rd party eq bodge installed by the player.)

The various volume levels have been screwey since about 2.3 or 2.4 for me. Having finer control would be a reasonable workaround, I'd rather have FDev actually tune it so the experience is what they intend it to be. I struggle to believe some ambient sound should be so muted while others are so overpowering when it worked well before (years ago now).

Try changing from 'normal' to 'night' to see if that helps, although I use 'boost' since the volume discrepancies crept in.

FYI I use a 5.1 surround system and volume levels aside the sound is generally excellent directionally.

The audio environment in elite is one of my biggest pet peeves especially because surround sound does not function 100% properly with elite.
Sonething ive raised with FDev in the bug forums numerous times but have been shrugged off because they cant reproduce the isdue despite me producing video evidence and testing with not one but 4 different surround sound formats (razer, dolby 7.1, DTS, and windows sonic) and just stock stereo as well.

This happens across not one but 3 of my computers, one of which is still fairly new and custom built.

Having more control over the audio would be a godsend in a game where the audio team has stopped caring. So I actually dont find your suggestion petty at all, ive been trying to get frontier to resolve the issues ever since they first started back in season 2

The audio issues actually discourage me from playing because they are just so noticeable when they happen. At this point ive really just given up hope that frontier will ever fix the audio issues at all.

My constant complaint is the SRV motor noise - really, REALLY awful - have to turn my audio system right down when in the buggy.

Does it still drown out the scanner in SRV? That was my main gripe with it and the volume slider didnt really have much of an effect on it...

Did need to have a little chuckle though , "can we alter volume on boost so i can watch a movie?".
