I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Anyone else looking forward to Phantom Doctrine? It looks like XCom meets the Cold War.
I'm a fan of XCom and similar tactical squad based games (even though I suck at them). This one looks to have some interesting takes on the genre:
-The devs have said they wanted to minimize RNG, too, so for instance your shots will typically connect but things like cover and 'awareness' will reduce the damage received/taken.
-Conspiracy layer on top with the corkboard that you have to piece together clues on looks interesting.
-When leaving a mission, you have to call for an evac. Take too long to get to the evac zone and your evac will be 'compromized', leading to increased risk of being caught on the world map.
-Agents left behind on a mission may make it back to your base after awhile, but could be compromized/brainwashed as dobule-agents and could betray you later.
-Take too long on a mission and your opponent could call in an airstrike.
-Big emphasis on stealth
