Photo help to fix Binturong

Hi (hopefully) Frontier,

I made some edits of the Binturong photo and I really hope you patch to replace the Binturong model to look more like... a binturong

Here is my edit next to a photo (not my photo):

And my edit vs in game:
C9CB8B1A-FEF6-47B4-A3C0-757FE5D395BD.jpeg

Changes I made:
  • ear tufts are tufts, not solid
  • pupils are cat like slits
  • pupils faded into iris colour
  • slimmed actual face
  • widened face framing fur (like a sideways rugby ball)
  • lengthened snout
  • widened snout (bridge of nose)
  • widened actual nose
  • teeth not visible

I think providing an image as a suggestion will hopefully help Frontier fix this model. Do you guys have any edits you want to show to Frontier to help them un-curse the Binturong before (or soon after) release?

It's insane that you put more attention to detail in one afternoon than a AAA professional video game company bothered to over 3 months.

Here is what I would change, using your version as the jumping off point:

-Get rid of that silly anthropomorphic smile. It looks bad on the lions and it looks bad on the binturong.
-Reduce the fur on the face significantly to make it more angular, like a civet's face should look.
-Make the lower canines more pronounced, not too much though. This is a hard angle to see that though.

If you want advice for the rest of the body I'd be happy to offer input.

Other photos would be great! I have no suggestions for the body - the binturongs at my local zoo have been asleep the last three times I went.

I agree so hard about the silly smiling look.

Here's a photo that very clearly shows off the angularity of the face, the cloudiness of the eyes, and the ear tufts.

Here is an image that clearly displays the body size. One thing I am worried about, because it is hard to see in their reveal photo, is that the tail will not be long enough. You can see that irl, it should be nearly as long as the actual body. The bits of the tail we could actually see are also far too fluffy, which ofc the entire animal suffers from. I would also make the paws a bit larger, but all things considered that is relatively minor. Oh, how I wish that the size of the paws could've been my only issue.

I firmly believe whoever was in charge of making this animal briefly glanced at a few photos and then made it, and never used reference material again. There is also absolutely no way they worked with any zoos to help them out. The anatomical errors are simply too numerous.

Wow, the first Picture is absolutely amazing. I assume this must be the greatest Reference Material for getting the Face right. The Binturong on that Picture is so beautiful

I don't know what to say more.

Very dissapointed, expected it to match in terms of accuracy with the edited one.

Dunno what for an creature they created, but it's NOT a Binturong. More like a #BintuWRONG lol.

Just everything is off smh

Some photos look more like Frontier

I don’t think the model’s perfect by any means but there’s a lot of foreshortening in the image making it hard to see how long the snout is - I’m going to reserve judgement until I see it live.
