Photochromic "smart" canopies, PLEASE!

Materials that change their light-transmitting properties based on incident visible radiation -- photochromic, as in self-darkening sunglasses -- have been around for decades, why in the 31st century is such material not used in ship canopies? The glare in my 'Condas cockpit can make my HUD near unintelligible! Also, options for interior paint jobs (e.g., flat black) would be really useful.

I thought we already had that actually.
How then, is it enabled, because I could find no controls or mention of controls for this kind of function. If it's automatic, then it is woefully inadequate especially given the brightness of interior finishes. Close to a star, if you're not in cockpit shadow, good luck seeing HUD details.

The Glare in my Cutter is unbearable under direct sunlight. Makes the HUD unreadable at times and it's valid also for lateral panels.
Playing on xbox so i dont think the hud colors are customisable

Yeah, I posted a thread about canopy customization, for looks, function, and improved combat performance.

I made my first billion pretty much exclusively by pirate hunting, the sun glare while scumming nav beacons is awful.

This is why interior options are needed. How can a pilot fly properly when the instruments are basically useless? I always try for a Deep Throat approach to the mail slot, and that means using the HUD to line up along the proper axis, but if you can't see the HUD in the cockpit dash, you're flying more than half blind.
