Hardware & Technical Physically upgrading Fly 5

I have a Fly 5. It is getting very worn out. Fire button 2 fell off a long time ago. Button 3 feels like it is about to do so soon. The horizontal axis and throttle are both erratic. I also have a Warthog. So which do I use? The Fly 5 of course. I just can't get around not having twist yaw. Tried pedals, tried the nipple on the throttle. Neither really work for me. So, maybe I could have got multiple replacement Fly 5 sticks for the same cost as the Warthog, but that's for another discussion.

Here, I'm wondering how far can the Fly 5 be improved through hardware changes?

For starters, I could simply cut away the plastic around button 3 and 5 and hot glue alternatives into place. That would be relatively simple.

The axis judder I'm not so sure about until I open it up for a look.

Anyone else ever tried the same?

I don't know anything about that particular unit, but if the mechanics are OK, you can often bring the pots back to working order with a tiny skoosh of WD40.

You need the tube of course, you must direct the jet right into the pot surface. Also, the amount is the tiniest amount you can put in.

Might be rather better not to mention more elegant, that chopping it up.

I like the Fly 5 alot to, well i use the Fly 9 but its basicly the same.
Button placement is perfect for me and it has a nice way of controlling throttle.
Mine is also starting to break down...... :(

Best thing for us seems to be a Thrustmaster T16000M with the Fly 5's throttle attached to it.
Or really start stacking Fly 5's...... :(
