With all these talks about realism/authenticity/scientific accuracy etc, and the balance the devs have to make to keep this a "game".
It got me thinking
what if there is a way to pick and choose which sounds effects I can hear and which are muted in the settings? Currently, it's either sound effects on (+volume) or muted.
For example, I would love to have
1- Engine sounds
2- Computer voice / radio chatter / player voice
3- UI/HUD clicks and beeps
4- damage hit on my hull (not shields)
5- in cockpit sounds
and mute everything else
I don't mind if it's changing some setting files like we do for the HUD colors (as long as it's ok with Frontier obviously)
I understand why Frontier didn't want to do this, the same reason star wars and star trek have massive explosions, it is entertainment after all, and who doesn't like a loud epic explosion.
I also understand that to fit the lore/science of the game, its the computer simulating the sounds of outer space according to scanner reading etc Bla Bla Bla.
but it wouldn't hurt to give us the option to make our gaming sessions as "realistic" or as "cinematic" as we want?
lastly, random question
what the hell is that loud BAAAOOOOOMMMMMMMM horn thing when you finish using your scanner? What is the source of that weird but oddly satisfying sound?

-canopy glass breaking on damage / freezing on cooling
