Picnic tables - Small object release - Big revolution in park design!

I would like to give picnic tables the hype it deserves.
A small piece of objects to be released, yes. But a big revolution in park design in Planet Coaster!

Just think of it. No more eat and walk parks. Now we actually can plan eating areas, dinner courts as part of the games real simulation and not only for visuals. The simulation will be a bit closer to reality because of this!
I wonder, all new opportunities of designs and creativity we will se. [heart]
If we look back in time. Dinner tables was announces during Alpha and an official rendering and animation was presented.

[praise] I wonder how the final product will be? There are many questions:
- Will the square table also be implemented?
- Will we have different designs, styles and themes of picnic tables?
- Will the parasols be implemented?

[rolleyes] Analyzing the official pic from Planet Coaster facebook page above. You see the tables are placeable on the ground and the guest can leave the path to sit on them. That is a cool feature. However, I wonder;
- Will picnic tables also be able to be placed on paths? Like creating a dining plaza.
- Will we be able to place picnic tables in buildings on terraces or second floors?
EDIT: Yeah, they were placed on natural path in the screenshot. However, that leads to the opposite question; will we be able to place them out on the ground? Considering this is a thought of feature in the early sketches as seen above.

[weird] Then of course. The most important question of them all:
- We only seen them in natural wooden brown. Will we be able to recolor them?

[where is it] Considering the animations of guest sitting down and standing up from tables. This must been the main issue for its delay I suppose. The devs have discusses the issues of animate guests sitting down and standing up from all different rides and attraction before. The complexy of the need of different animation for size type of guest and design of the seat.
I suspect the devs want to save in on this by only animate guests using seats strictly without any back to lead to. As benches and stools. No chairs. What do you think?

absolutely hyped about this!!

Why not? Everyone has its own vision of Planet Coaster. For him it is important to have this feature to create a perfect park with all conveniences for the park guests. So, of course he's hyped about this. Just let's respect it.

I think you got lost along the way....

About the hype for picknick benches? I was hyped during Alpha. Now I am just pleased to see them finally in the game.

Sorry mate, But No....[haha]
You can stop wonder, and start to watch properly.
The tables are ON the path. It's a natural path. If you look closely you can see other peoples walking on the sand behind, and if you look at the video you can see logs on the ground delimiting the path.

Sorry to destruct your dreams:
-Yes you'll be able to place them on path because, I don't think they'll be placeable on elswhere.
-Of course you'll be able to place theme on elevated pathway.
-I don't know. They said at Frontier expo that they'll be one model per theme at least. So we can expect more than this round table. [yesnod]
-Oh yes, they talked about parasols too.

BIG HYPE about picnic tables. The feature that was announced before the Alpha, and that we finally get after thinking it will not be implemented in the game.
This is the easy way to create hype, Good work Frontier. [haha]

[up][up]But I am Very Hyped about it....That the crazy thing.[weird]

Ah, now I see it. [haha] Thanks for pointing that out!
I wanted them to be first of all placeable on paths though. [tongue]

However, I wonder if there will be a high risk of the issue that guests start to use dining courts as short cuts, walking trough the groups of tables, and not respect to use the path around it. [mouth shut]

I am happy to have tables regardless of where they sit... but seeing as they sit on the path it leaves me hoping they at least allow us to make large plazas without gaps with the paths a little easier someday soon.

Well at least square shaped plazas are some what easy to make today with the path-grid-feature. [up]

I don't want to state the obvious but are you aware you can already create plaza's without gaps with the path-grid feature?

I'm really excited about the prospect of revisiting all my previous parks to restructure the food areas by adding food courts or knocking down old buildings to make room and maybe treat the park to a new headline attraction while I'm at it. This will be a pretty realistic scenario, getting my parks ready for a 2018 season.

I am aware we can make plazas that way, and it works well for square plazas but the path feature still creates gaps when trying to merge path sections. Could be better, could be worse but creating huge realistic sections of concrete/path is more challenging that it should be.

You have to play around with it more. I threw these large plazas together really fast using the grid + largest width path + the cornering trick to make them look more organic (you place a path on a corner and then delete it to round it off-vid link below to explain this better),

So much picnic table space! [shocked][big grin] You absolutely can make large plazas without the gaps and take a square/boring grid and make it a lot more organic. Terrain slope will make this a bit more challenging but it can definitely be done. If you wanted to connect them together, you'll get the little gaps but it's really not that bad,

Yessssssss I too have been wanting these since alpha/concept art...heck since the first RCT came out! [up] I totally mocked Ed for his "Picnic Tables!" applause line during the expo but it is really true that the RCT community has wanted eating tables since the beginning of RCT and it is a pretty big deal to finally get them after all these years and multiple RCT games. Hey frontier, Midway games? [tongue]

Echoing Wildboys comment, I can't wait to design new eating areas and replan new areas in our current parks to accommodate them. They were so cruel to tell us they weren't working on them! *tisktisk [knockout]

I love this idea. Just what is make a builder motivated. I gonna do this as well. [heart]

Still waiting for some more news about the update.

Yes, according to the Expo presentation they talked about there will be: themed tables, parasols.
However, I need to see it to believe it. [big grin]

Some good videos to cover picnic tables.

16 minutes into the clip:

Additional to picnic; Someone more than me hoping on really fancy café tables?

Yes! I too am so hyped for these new pic tables :D. Would be kinda nice if we could get like some stools or new chairs as well. I would love to create a country western bar scene :D.

When is this update coming out?
