Pics of the Cargo Scoop

If a vacuum cleaner cleans by creating a vacuum, and space is already a vacuum, this must mean that space sucks. I should have realised before I backed this game!
/Nods/
That is definitely the most unassailable logic that I've ever read on these forums.

Ever, I say!

I like the design of the cargo scoop; seems simple and plausible...as a cargo scoop.

However I can't imagine it working as a fuel scoop, so does that mean fuel and cargo scoops are now two separate pieces of kit I wonder?

Perhaps the cargo ramp/scoop can also generate powerful electromagnetic/electromagic fields to scoop fuel?

Bussard space ramjet thingy.

All I know is that I suck at using the darn thing.

I was thinking that people where probably wondering how the cargo scoop looks like on the Sidewinder. Since it is hard to see under ones own ship, I kindly asked CmdrBond if he could be so nice and show me his. Here are the results:

LOVE the pics. Thanks for those. :)

Ditto...I am also thinking the same question :)

I suppose drawing in 'hydrogen gas' (fuel?) through a vent somewhere on the ships hull would suffice?
I presume at the moment a fuel scoop is not standard kit for most ships, and that this would be an 'upgrade' item that could be construed as an internal gadget?
In any event, just thinking here about the whole design of a fuel/hydrogen collector, does it really need to be a 'detailed' (graphic wise) item?....it's to my mind not in the same league as a cargo scoop, in the sense that solid objects need to be displayed graphically, and 'gas' is virtually transparent, at least close up...if you get my drift.
Slightly off topic but how do other people here see the possible design configurations of a fuel scoop, a highly detailed animation, or something with a more simplistic nature...*shrugs*....just some thoughts!

Hi Rog! :)

Just had a look at the link you included in your post...thanks! :)
It states (in the small picture to the right on the page) that the actual 'electromagnetic field' is miles wide, and more importantly 'invisible' ;)
Maybe just need to 'condense' the hardware into a 'small package' for game credibility? ;) :D
It would be a plausible explanation for a fuel scoop in that sense?

Jack :)

I asked a co-worker today
Me: How vacuum in vacuum?
Co-worker: Open the door of course.
Me:

So it would seem that vacuuming in space doesn't suck, it blows.
Space itself still sucks though. I just really wanted to make that pun.
